Escolinha Porto Futsal
(, ''little school'') is a popular comedy genre in Brazilian media. It usually consists of a fictional classroom where an ensemble cast of adult actors play different overly stereotypical comic characters and attempt to answer questions asked by their teacher, a straight man stock character. The earliest program that followed this setup was the 1935 radio show ''Escolinha da Dona Olinda'' on Rádio Record. It also proved to be very successful as a television format, with shows such as ''Escolinha do Professor Raimundo'' and ''A Escolinha do Golias''. Similar concepts are also found in some episodes of the Mexican sitcom ''El Chavo del Ocho'', and in the Turkish film series ''Hababam Sınıfı''. Ensemble Cast
In a dramatic production, an ensemble cast is one that is composed of multiple principal actors and performers who are typically assigned roughly equal amounts of screen time.Random House: ensemble acting Linked 2013-07-17 Structure In contrast to the popular model, which gives precedence to a sole protagonist, an ensemble cast leans more towards a sense of "collectivity and community". Cinema Ensemble casts in film were introduced as early as September 1916, with D. W. Griffith's silent epic film ''Intolerance'', featuring four separate though parallel plots. The film follows the lives of several characters over hundreds of years, across different cultures and time periods. The unification of different plot lines and character arcs is a key characteristic of ensemble casting in film; whether it's a location, event, or an overarching theme that ties the film and characters together. Films that feature ensembles tend to emphasize the interconnectivity of the characters, even when ...

Straight Man
The straight man is a stock character in a comedy performance, especially a double act, sketch comedy, or farce. When a comedy partner behaves eccentrically, the straight man is expected to maintain composure. The direct contribution to the comedy a straight man provides usually comes in the form of a deadpan. A straight man with no direct comedic role has historically been known as a stooge. Typically, he is expected to feed the funny man lines that he can respond to for laughs (and is hence sometimes known as a feed), while seeking no acclamation for himself. If a straight man unintentionally breaks composure and laughs, it is known in British English as corpsing. History In vaudeville, effective straight men were much less common than comedians. The straight man's name usually appeared first and he usually received 60% of the take. This helped take the sting out of not being the laugh-getter and helped ensure the straight man's loyalty to the team. Nachman, Gerald (199 ...
