Eschkopf
The Eschkopf near Hofstätten in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate (Südwestpfalz county) is a major hill, high in the Palatine Forest. Location The Eschkopf is part of the Frankenweide, a rock massif in the centre of the Palatine Forest. The main Palatine Watershed runs over its summit, which rises about 3.4 km south of the village of Hofstätten (Südwestpfalz county) and 3.6 km (both as the crow flies) south-southeast of the hamlet of Johanniskreuz in the neighbouring county of Kaiserslautern. The hill is the northernmost of a line of four peaks that exceed 600 m. To the south, in sequence, are the Mosisberg (608.9 m), the Hortenkopf (606.2 m) and the Weißenberg (ca. 610 m). Frankenweide
The Frankenweide is a hill region in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It forms the central part of the Palatine Forest in the Palatinate region. Geography The Frankenweide is a single forest that, today, covers an area of a good 200 km². Much of it is a plateau at an elevation of about 380–, which climbs steadily from north to south. Individual hill summits rise prominently from the plateau, which is framed by deeply incised valleys. In the south the Frankenweide is bounded by the valley of the Queich, in the east by the Wellbach stream and its northern projection. There it is adjoined by the imperial forest (''Reichswald'') of Kaiserslautern. In the northwest the Moosalb stream forms the border, and in the southwest, it is bounded by Gräfenstein Land. Speyerbach
The Speyerbach is a left tributary of the Rhine in the Palatinate part of Rhineland-Palatinate. In Speyer, the river split into ''Gießhübelbach'' and ''Woogbach''. The Woogbach changes its name to ''Nonnenbach'', then flows into Gießhübelbach shortly before the latter flows into the Rhine. Importance Although only classified as a river of the third rank under German river classification system, the Speyerbach is the largest river of the Anterior Palatinate. It is long; its catchment area is ; its discharge varies between . In extreme weather conditions with heavy rain in a short time, the discharge may be much higher; the highest peak was on 25 May 1978. Erlenbach (Speyerbach)
The Erlenbach () is a river in the Palatinate Forest, in the ( Palatinate region of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is the strongest headwater of the Speyerbach, which is the largest river in the Anterior Palatinate. The Erlenbach rises at a height of about 460 m on the eastern slope of the Eschkopf (609 m), hence on the eastern side of the Palatinate watershed. Mosisberg
The Mosisberg near Hofstätten in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate (Südwestpfalz county) is a hill, , in the central Palatine Forest. It has two domes, the eastern one is the summit and is called ''Langer Kopf'' and the western high point is the ''Preußenstein''. Wellbach (Queich)
The Wellbach is a stream in the Palatine Forest in Germany. It rises near Eschkopf and flows towards the south. In doing so, it passes the eastern edge of Hofstätten (Pfalz) in the municipality of Wilgartswiesen. It then flows under the B 10 federal highway before discharging into the Queich, as its largest tributary. The B 48 follows the stream for its entire length. In its upper reaches, the Wellbach forms a municipal boundary, in places, of the town of Landau, which owns extensive areas of woodland in the Palatine Forest. Hortenkopf
The Hortenkopf is a hill, 606 metres above sea level (NN), in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which lies in the middle of the Palatine Forest between Hofstätten and Leimen. The Hortenkopf is recognisable from a long way off thanks to the transmission tower that has been erected on its summit. Schwarzbach (Blies)
The Schwarzbach is a river in southwestern Germany, left tributary of the Blies. Its source is in the Palatinate Forest, near Trippstadt. Palatine Watershed
The Palatine Watershed (german: Pfälzische Hauptwasserscheide) forms the main drainage divide in the Palatinate between the Upper Rhine and the Middle Rhine, the two successive sections of the river Rhine that flow through the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In the southern and central Palatine Forest the effect of the Palatine Watershed is especially clear. Queich
The Queich is a tributary of the Rhine, which rises in the southern part of the Palatinate Forest, and flows through the Upper Rhine valley to its confluence with the Rhine in Germersheim. It is long and is one of the four major drainage systems of the Palatinate Forest along with the Speyerbach, Lauter and Schwarzbach. The Queich flows through the towns Hauenstein, Annweiler am Trifels, Siebeldingen, Landau, Offenbach an der Queich and Germersheim.
