Ervin Abel
Ervin Abel (8 November 1929 Narva – 16 March 1984 Tallinn) was an Estonian actor. In 1953 he graduated from GITIS' Estonian studio. 1953–1966 he worked at Estonian Drama Theatre and 1966-1984 at Estonian SSR State Philharmonic (nowadays Eesti Kontsert). Besides theatre roles he played also in several films. ''Siin me oleme!'' (Estonian; en, Here We Are!) is a 1979 Estonian movie written and directed by Sulev Nõmmik. The script was compiled on Juhan Smuul's motifs from ''Suvitajad'' (Estonian for ''Summer tourists''). Influence Together with ''Viimne reliikvia'', '' Noor pensionär'' and ''Mehed ei nuta'', ''Siin me oleme!'' is one of the most memorable Estonian movies from the Soviet era. Even decades later, Smuul's catchphrases popularised by the movie, such as 'We're from Tallinn, we'll pay!' ''Spring'' ( et, Kevade) is a 1969 Estonian film directed by Arvo Kruusement and is a film adaptation of Oskar Luts' popular novel of the same name. The movie placed first place in the Estonian feature films top ten poll held in 2002 by Estonian film critics and journalists. In 1970 the movie sold 558,000 tickets in Estonia, then nearly half of the country's total population of 1.36 million and 8,100,000 in the Soviet Union in 1971. The film was re-released in Estonia on 13 April 2006. The film was shot in Palamuse, which was the prototype area of Oskar Luts' "Paunvere". It was followed by three sequels: 1976's ''Summer'' (''Suvi''), 1990's ''Autumn'' (''Sügis'') and 2020's ''Winter'' (''Talve''), all of which included original actors from this film. Narva, russian: Нарва is a municipality and city in Estonia. It is located in Ida-Viru County, Ida-Viru county, at the Extreme points of Estonia, eastern extreme point of Estonia, on the west bank of the Narva (river), Narva river which forms the Estonia–Russia border, Estonia–Russia international border. With 54,409 inhabitants (as of 2020) Narva is Estonia's third largest city after capital Tallinn and Tartu. In 1944, Narva was nearly completely destroyed during the battles of World War II.
