Ernst Wendler
Ernst Wendler (April 24, 1890 - March 31, 1986) was a German diplomat and businessman. Wendler served as the ambassador of Nazi Germany to Bolivia from 1938 to 1941, and to Thailand from 1943 to 1945. He was also the Consul at the German Consulate-General in New Orleans, United States, from 1934 to 1936, and was succeeded by Edgar von Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim, Edgar von Spiegel. As ambassador to Bolivia, he engaged with pro-Nazi elements in the Bolivian government and was eventually expelled under President Enrique Peñaranda. Early life and education Ernst Wendler was born on April 24, 1890, in Ulm within the Kingdom of Württemberg in the German Empire. His parents were Eberhard Wendler (1864–1933), who was a textile manufacturer, and Wilhelmine Wendler (née Reinwald; 1865–1932). Wendler attended Friedrich-List-Gymnasium Reutlingen until 1907. The Kingdom of Württemberg (german: Königreich Württemberg ) was a German state that existed from 1805 to 1918, located within the area that is now Baden-Württemberg. The kingdom was a continuation of the Duchy of Württemberg, which existed from 1495 to 1805.
