Ernesto Ríos (born October 8, 1975) is a Mexican new media artist and academic based in Mexico City. Career Born in Cuernavaca, Ríos is a visual artist who showcases drawing, painting, video, photography, animation, virtual reality, performance, interactive art and net.art. Ríos has shown his work at galleries and museums in Mexico and other countries, such as at Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City, Fototeca de Cuba in Havana, Cuba, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. His artwork has been presented through channels such as the Java Museum Forum for Internet Technology in Contemporary Art, and exhibited in international shows such as NetSpace: Viaggio nell'arte at the National Museum of the 21st Century Arts. In 1999, Ríos participated in the "National Presence of Creators" gallery of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. New media art includes artworks designed and produced by means of electronic media technologies, comprising virtual art, computer graphics, computer animation, digital art, interactive art, sound art, Internet art, video games, robotics, 3D printing, and cyborg art. Cuernavaca (; nci-IPA, Cuauhnāhuac, kʷawˈnaːwak "near the woods", ) is the capital and largest city of the state of Morelos in Mexico. The city is located around a 90-minute drive south of Mexico City using the Federal Highway 95D. The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is an artistic and cultural centre on The Mall in London, just off Trafalgar Square. MAXXI ( it, Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, italic=no, "national museum of 21st-century arts") is a national museum of contemporary art and architecture in the Flaminio neighborhood of Rome, Italy. The museum is managed by a foundation created by the Italian ministry of cultural heritage. International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) is a contemporary art institution that runs an international residency program and related exhibitions and events based in Brooklyn, New York.
