Ernest Popplewell
Ernest Popplewell, Baron Popplewell, CBE (10 December 1899 – 11 August 1977) was a British Labour Party politician. In the Labour landslide at the 1945 general election, Popplewell was elected as Member of Parliament for Newcastle upon Tyne West. In 1951 he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). ''The Right Honourable'' ( abbreviation: ''Rt Hon.'' or variations) is an honorific style traditionally applied to certain persons and collective bodies in the United Kingdom, the former British Empire and the Commonwealth of Nations.
