Ernest Hyman
Ernest Joseph Hyman (1904 – 7 January 1927) was a footballer for Yeovil Town. He died on 7 January 1927 from injuries sustained during a game for the club against Taunton Town on Boxing Day 1926. He is buried in the graveyard of St Nicholas church, Radstock. His father was a miner in the Somerset Coalfield, and Ernest was the cousin of cricketer and footballer Bill Hyman William Hyman (7 March 1875 – 11 February 1959), known as "Bill" or "Billy", played first-class cricket for Somerset from 1900 to 1914. Yeovil Town F
Yeovil ( ) is a town and civil parish in the district of South Somerset, England. The population of Yeovil at the last census (2011) was 45,784. More recent estimates show a population of 48,564. It is close to Somerset's southern border with Dorset, from London, south of Bristol, from Sherborne and from Taunton. The aircraft and defence industries which developed in the 20th century made it a target for bombing in the Second World War; they are still major employers. Yeovil Country Park, which includes Ninesprings, is one of several open spaces with educational, cultural and sporting facilities. Taunton Town F
Taunton () is the county town of Somerset, England, with a 2011 population of 69,570. Its thousand-year history includes a 10th-century monastic foundation, Taunton Castle, which later became a priory. The Normans built a castle owned by the Bishops of Winchester. Parts of the inner ward house were turned into the Museum of Somerset and Somerset Military Museum. For the Second Cornish uprising of 1497, Perkin Warbeck brought an army of 6,000; most surrendered to Henry VII on 4 October 1497. Bill Hyman
William Hyman (7 March 1875 – 11 February 1959), known as "Bill" or "Billy", played first-class cricket for Somerset from 1900 to 1914. He was born at Radstock, Somerset and died at Mount Charles, St Austell, Cornwall. Cricket career Hyman was a right-handed middle order batsman who was renowned in club cricket as a hitter. He played for the first few years of his first-class cricket career as an occasional amateur player, but in the final years, from 1912 to 1914, he turned professional and played for Somerset much more frequently. Hyman made his debut for Somerset in the same 1900 match against Yorkshire at Dewsbury that saw the debut of A. E. Bailey, but after that every other match of the small number that he played for the county up to August 1912 was held at Bath, where he also played his club cricket. Radstock Town F
Radstock is a town and civil parish on the northern slope of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, England, about south-west of Bath and north-west of Frome. It is within the area of the unitary authority of Bath and North East Somerset. The Radstock built-up area had a population of 9,419 at the 2011 Census. Radstock has been settled since the Iron Age, and its importance grew after the construction of the Fosse Way, a Roman road. The town grew after 1763, when coal was discovered in the area. Large numbers of mines opened during the 19th century, including several owned by the Waldegrave family, who had been Lords of the Manor since the Civil War.
