Ernest Currie
Ernest William Currie (9 April 1873 – 23 October 1932) was a New Zealand-born rugby union international for Australia and a first-class cricketer. Cricket career Currie, who was born at Dunedin, represented Otago in six first-class cricket matches during the 1894–95 and 1893–94 New Zealand cricket seasons, as a wicket-keeper. He was regarded as one of New Zealand's best wicket-keepers of his time, "a lightning hand behind the sticks". The Association Of Cricket Statisticians And Historians
The Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians (ACS) was founded in England in 1973 for the purpose of researching and collating information about the history and statistics of cricket. Originally called the Association of Cricket Statisticians, the words "and Historians" were added in 1992 but it has continued to use the initialism ACS. The ACS headquarters were formerly in Nottingham, opposite Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, but relocated to Cardiff in 2006. Although constituted in England, the ACS has a worldwide membership and is open to anyone with a relevant interest. The wicket-keeper in the sport of cricket is the player on the fielding side who stands behind the wicket or stumps being watchful of the batsman and ready to take a catch, stump the batsman out and run out a batsman when occasion arises. The wicket-keeper is the only member of the fielding side permitted to wear gloves and external leg guards. The role of the keeper is governed by Law 27 of the Laws of Cricket. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps.
