Erne Gaels, Belleek is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Belleek, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. History The club was founded in 1961. Erne Gaels won their first Fermanagh Senior Football Championship title in 1979, and followed this up by winning it again in 1981. The Belleek club's first appearance in a senior final since 1981 came in 2016, losing to Derrygonnelly Harps by a single point. Their most recent championship success was in the Intermediate grade, beating Devenish in the 2021 final. In their first year back up at senior, Erne Gaels reached the county final, but suffered a heavy defeat to Enniskillen Gaels. They reached the final again in 2023, but lost once again to Derrygonnelly. Belleek (Flanagan, Deirdre & Laurence; ''Irish Place Names'', page 182. Gill & Macmillan, 2002. ) is a village and civil parish in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. While the greater part of the village lies within County Fermanagh, part of it crosses the border and the River Erne into County Donegal. It lies in the historic barony of Lurg. It had a population of 904 people in the 2011 Census, and is situated within Fermanagh and Omagh district. July is normally the warmest month in Northern Ireland, and the highest summer temperatures of all occur inland, furthest away from the cooling influence of the Atlantic. A long-standing high temperature record for Northern Ireland (30.8 °C) was recorded at Knockarevan in County Fermanagh on 30 June 1976, which was not surpassed until the heatwave of July 2021 (peaking at 31.4 °C, recorded at Armagh). The ''Impartial Reporter'' is a newspaper based in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland which is circulated in Fermanagh, South Tyrone and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland. The Fermanagh County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Fear Manach) or Fermanagh GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. Rory Gallagher (Gaelic Footballer)
Rory Gallagher (born 22 August 1978) is a Gaelic football manager and former player. Gallagher played for the Fermanagh and Cavan county teams, as well as several club teams, including his home club Erne Gaels, as well as Dublin side St Brigid's and Antrim's St Gall's. He was a selector for the Donegal county team during their 2012 Championship success, acting as number two to Jim McGuinness. He left the Donegal panel after the 2013 championship but later returned as Jim McGuinness's successor in October 2014, when McGuinness departed following the 2014 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. With John McNulty, he was joint manager of the Cill Chartha club in 2014 during his time away from the county panel. Raymond Gallagher (Gaelic Footballer)
Raymond Gallagher (born 1970s) is a former Gaelic footballer who played for several clubs and the Fermanagh county team. His father Raymond Snr, a farmer, died in 2007. He was survived by his wife Mary, his only son and three daughters. The politician Tommy Gallagher is an uncle of Gallagher's, on his father's side. Fellow Fermanagh footballers Rory and Ronan Gallagher are cousins of his. From 1986, he attended secondary school at St Michael's College, Enniskillen, where he won the 1992 MacRory Cup. He then played minor and under-21 football for his county, winning the 1994 Ulster Under-21 Football Championship. Enniskillen Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in based in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. History The club completed a six-in-a-row of Fermanagh titles between 1998 and 2003. Gaels reached the final of the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship twice during this period, losing to Crossmaglen Rangers in 1999 and to Errigal Ciarán in 2002. The bid for seven championships in a row was ended by Derrygonnelly Harps in the 2004 county final. That great team went on to win one further county title in 2006. The club went into decline over the next decade, and by 2016, were on the brink of relegation to Junior football, scraping through a relegation play-off. Devenish St Mary's is a Gaelic football club based in the village of Garrison, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. History The club was founded in 1917, but did not affiliate until 25 July 1926. The club won the Fermanagh Senior Football Championship for the first time in 1960 as Devenish/Mulleek, and went on to win the county title four more times in the 1960s, including a three in a row from 1965 to 1967. Derrygonnelly Harps GFC
Derrygonnelly Harps is a Gaelic football club from Derrygonnelly in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, founded in 1924. The club participates in Fermanagh competitions and has won the Fermanagh Senior Football Championship nine times. The club colours are purple and yellow. The name Derrygonnelly (Doire Ó gConaile), when translated, means ‘The Oak Wood of O’Connolly’. The Harps playing complex is about half a mile outside the village. Canon Maguire Park comprises the main playing field, a full size training pitch, a spacious changing room complex, a meeting room and a covered stand (Fermanagh’s first, opened in 1999).
