Ernad
Eranad also known as Ernad refers to the erstwhile province in the midland area of Malabar, consisting of Malappuram and nearby regions such as Anakkayam, Manjeri, Kondotty, Nilambur, etc. Currently Eranad Taluk is a Taluk in Malappuram district. Eranad was ruled by a Samanthan Nair clan known as Eradis, similar to the Vellodis of neighbouring Valluvanad and Nedungadis of Nedunganad. The rulers of Eranad were known by the title ''Eralppad''/''Eradi''. They also used the title Thirumulpad. Ernad had two capitals during various times, Nediyiruppu, in Kondotty under Chera rule,K. V. Malabar District, also known as Malayalam District, was an administrative district on the southwestern Malabar Coast of Bombay Presidency (1792-1800) and Madras Presidency (1800-1947) in British India, and independent India's Madras State (1947-1956). It was the most populous and the third-largest district in the erstwhile Madras State. Kingdom Of Valluvanad
Valluvanad was an independent chiefdom in present-day central Kerala that held power from the early 12th century to the end of the 18th century. Prior to that, and since the late 10th century, Valluvanad existed as an autonomous chiefdom within the kingdom of the Chera Perumals.Ganesh, K. N. (2009). Eranad Taluk
Eranad Taluk comes under Perinthalmanna revenue division in Malappuram district of Kerala, India. Its headquarters is the city of Manjeri. Eranad Taluk contains two municipalities - Manjeri and Malappuram. Most of the administrative offices are located in the Civil Station at Malappuram and the Mini-Civil Station at Manjeri. History Eranad was the largest Taluk in the erstwhile Malabar District in terms of area. After the formation of Kerala state, it continued to be largest Taluk in the state, until the formation of Nilambur Taluk in 1990s. The Tirurangadi Taluk Office, also known as Hajur Kacheri, is a historic building located in Tirurangadi Talk of Malappuram district, Malappuram District in the Indian state of Kerala. Kondotty Taluk, otherwise called Western Eranad Taluk, comes under Tirur revenue division in Malappuram district of Kerala, India. Its headquarters is the town of Kondotty. Nediyiruppu is a region of the Kondotty municipality in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is situated from Malappuram, the district headquarters. Important places in Nediyiruppu village are Musliyarangadi, Colony Road Junction (previously noted as Nediyiruppu landmark), Kottukkara, Meleparambu, Chiryil Chungam, Kodangad, and Kuruppath. Tirumalpād or Thirumalpād is a Hindu Kshatriya title used in North and Central Kerala, India.E. Thurston. Castes and tribes of South India Volume 7Madras Census report 1891 The title is used independently by certain sections of Samanthan Nairs and Samanta Kshatriya as well as by some Namboothiri clans. Nedungadi
Nedungadi is a Samanthan last name, originating in the Indian state of Kerala. Nedungadi belong to Samanthan section of the Malabar ruling class of Nairs. Samanthans were the erstwhile rulers of small Nadus (Places) under the Chera Dynasty. The name Nedungadi is believed to be derived from the word "Nedunganadu" and the word "aadi", meaning "ancient/going back a long way". "Nedunganadu" used to be a small region that now includes Shornur, Ottappalam, Kothakursi, Pattambi, Kootanad, Naduvattam, Karalmanna Cherpulasserry, Karimpuza, Nellaya, Vallapuzha are the old seats of Eralpad Raja, the second Sthani of Zamorin.
