Erlon Silva
Erlon de Souza Silva (born 23 June 1991) is a Brazilian sprint canoeist who competes in the 1000 m doubles event (C-2). He placed tenth at the 2012 Olympics and won a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Games. He won two more silver medals at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games and became a world champion in 2015. Career In 2014, de Souza Silva won a World Championship bronze medal in the men's C2 200 m with Isaquias Queiroz. A year later, that team won World Championship gold in the C2 1000 m. This team also won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in the C2 1000 m. At the following World Championships, the team were unable to defend their title, finishing in 4th place in the final. In 2018, Silva and Queiroz won World Championship gold again, this time in the C2 500 m. In 2019, the team won World Championship bronze, this time at the C2 1000 m. The South American Games (also known as ODESUR Games; Spanish: ''Juegos Suramericanos''; Portuguese: ''Jogos Sul-Americanos''), formerly the Southern Cross Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Cruz del Sur'') is a regional multi-sport event held between nations from South America, organized by the ODESUR (acronym for "Organización Deportiva Suramericana" – ''South American Sports Organization''. Jacky Jamael Nascimento Godmann (born 14 April 1999) is a Brazilian canoeist. His family has a tradition in the sport, with uncle Vilson Nascimento winning a two medals in the 2007 Pan American Games, and his aunt Valdenice do Nascimento getting a bronze medal in the 2015 edition. The 2017 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, the 43rd edition of the World Championships, were held in Račice, Czech Republic, from 23 to 27 August 2017. Explanation of events Canoe sprint competitions are contested in either a Canadian canoe (C), an open canoe with a single-blade paddle, or in a kayak (K), a closed canoe with a double-bladed paddle. Each canoe or kayak can hold one person (1), two people (2), or four people (4). For each of the specific canoes or kayaks, such as a K-1 (kayak single), the competition distances can be 200, 500, 1000 or 5000 metres. When a competition is listed as a K-2 500m event, for example, it means two people are in a kayak competing over a distance of 500 metres. Isaquias Queiroz
Isaquias Queiroz dos Santos (born 3 January 1994) is a Brazilian sprint canoeist who has competed since 2005. He is the only Brazilian athlete to ever win three medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games, and the third most decorated Brazilian athlete with four medals overall, including a gold medal. He's been through adversity in his younger years. As a toddler, he poured boiling water on himself and spent a month in the hospital recovering. At the age of 5, he was kidnapped and offered up for adoption before being rescued by his mother, and five years later, he fell out of a tree while trying to catch a snake and lost a kidney. A sprint canoe is a canoe used in International Canoe Federation canoe sprint. It is an open boat propelled by one, two or four paddlers from a kneeling position, using single-bladed paddles. The difficulty of balance can depend on how wide or narrow the canoe is, although regularly the less contact a canoe has with the water the faster it goes.
