Erlend Slokvik
Erlend Slokvik (born 24 February 1962) is a Norwegian ski-orienteering competitor, sports coach and sports executive. He won two bronze medals at the world championships in ski orienteering. He has been head coach for the Norwegian national teams in orienteering and biathlon, and sports executive in biathlon and athletics. Personal life and education Slokvik was born on 24 February 1962. He studied natural sciences and pedagogy at the University of Oslo, and has a diploma in sports coaching from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. Career Active career Slokvik won a bronze medal in the relay at the World Ski Orienteering Championships in Kuopio in 1988, and another bronze medal at the World Championships in Skellefteå in 1990. Ski Orienteering
Ski orienteering (SkiO) is a cross-country skiing endurance winter racing sport and one of the four orienteering disciplines recognized by the IOF. A successful ski orienteer combines high physical endurance, strength and excellent technical skiing skills with the ability to navigate and make the best route choices while skiing at a high speed. Standard orienteering maps are commonly used, but since 2019, a separate mapping standard ISSkiOM has been produced which recommends a subset of the symbols used in other disciplines. Ski-orienteering maps uses green symbols to indicate trails and tracks and different symbols to indicate their navigability in snow; other symbols indicate whether any roads are snow-covered or clear.
