Eritrea At The 2018 Winter Olympics
Eritrea competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018. The country made its debut at the Winter Olympics. Eritrea's team consisted of one alpine skier, Shannon-Ogbnai Abeda, who carried the country's flag during the opening ceremony. Eritrean National Olympic Committee
The Eritrean National Olympic Committee ( ti, ሃገራዊ ኮሚቴ ኦሎምፒክ ኤርትራ; IOC code: ERI) is the National Olympic Committee representing Eritrea. It was created in 1996 and recognised by the IOC in 1999. Eritrea made its debut at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney where it sent three athletes to compete in track and field events. Alpine Skiing At The 2018 Winter Olympics
Alpine skiing at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held from 12 to 24 February at Yongpyong Alpine Centre (slalom and giant slalom) at the Alpensia Sports Park in PyeongChang and at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre (speed events) in Jeongseon, South Korea. In June 2015, the International Olympic Committee approved the addition of a mixed team event, bringing the total of medal events in alpine skiing to eleven. It was the last event on the schedule. Qualification A maximum of 320 quota spots were available to athletes to compete at the games. A maximum of twenty-two athletes could be entered by a National Olympic Committee, with a maximum of fourteen men or fourteen women. The 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games (german: Olympische Jugend-Winterspiele 2012), officially known as the I Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG), were an international multi-sport event for youths that took place in Innsbruck, Austria, on 13–22 January 2012. They were the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics, a major sports and cultural festival celebrated in the tradition of the Olympic Games. Approximately 1100 athletes from 70 countries competed. Winter Youth Olympics
The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international multi-sport event for athletes between 15 and 18 years old, organized by the International Olympic Committee. The games are held every four years in staggered summer and winter events consistent with the current Olympic Games format, though in reverse order with Olympic Winter Games held in leap years instead of Summer Olympic Games. The first summer version was held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010 while the first winter version was held in Innsbruck, Austria from 13 to 22 January 2012. International Ski Federation
The ''Fédération internationale de ski et de snowboard'' (FIS; en, International Ski and Snowboard Federation) is the highest international governing body for skiing and snowboarding. Founded on 2 February 1924 in Chamonix, France during the inaugural Winter Olympic Games, the FIS is responsible for the Olympic disciplines of Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding.
