Fairview is a town in Peace Country, Alberta, Canada. It is located southwest of Peace River, Alberta, Peace River and north of Grande Prairie at the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 64A. History In 1928, the railroad extended west from Whitelaw through the Beaver Indian Reserve across a stubble field where the Hamlet of Fairview was established. The community of Waterhole, Alberta, Waterhole, five miles to the south, was packed onto skids and wagons and relocated to the railroad site. The first train rolled into Fairview on November 2, 1928. The hamlet was incorporated as a village on April 22, 1929. In 1949, the village was incorporated into the Town of Fairview. The 1916 Canadian census was the second of a series of special censuses conducted by the Government of Canada covering the rapidly expanding Northwest Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. These censuses were conducted every ten years from 1906 to 1946. This census was conducted as at June 1, 1916. It was the ninth census for Manitoba and the third census for Saskatchewan and Alberta. Three documents, known as schedules, were used to collect data: Schedule 1 for Population; Schedule 2 for Farm Property, Field Crops, Animals and Animal Products; and Schedule 3 for Domestic Animals, Dairy Products. Waterhole, Alberta
Waterhole is an unincorporated locality in the Municipal District of Fairview No. 136, Alberta, Canada. Now a ghost town, Waterhole prospered during the early 1900s. History The location was known in the late 1800s as "The Waterhole", because potable water from Boucher Creek could be found in a waterhole located there. The first settler arrived in 1908, and a post office was established in 1912. In 1914, a general store opened. That same year, an annual agricultural fair was started, and Waterhole had over 50 residents. In 1916, a community hall was built, and by 1926, Waterhole had a doctor's office, a livery barn, a black smith, a hardware store, a bank, a telegraph office, electrical generator, and telephone service.
