The given name Erika, Erica, Ericka, or Ereka is a feminine form of Eric, deriving from the Old Norse name ''EirÃkr'' (or ''ErÃkr'' in Eastern Scandinavia due to monophthongization). The first element, ''ei-'' is derived either from the older Proto-Norse ''*aina(z)'', meaning "one, alone, unique", as in the form ''Æinrikr'' explicitly, or from ''*aiwa(z)'' "long time, eternity". The second element ''-rÃkr'' stems either from ''*rÃks'' "king, ruler" (cf. Gothic ''reiks'') or from the therefrom derived ''*rÃkijaz'' "kingly, powerful, rich". Erica Cornejo (born 1978/79) is an Argentine ballet dancer who was a principal dancer with the Boston Ballet. Early life Cornejo was born in San Luis, Argentina and raised in Buenos Aires. Her younger brother, Herman Cornejo, is currently a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre. She started ballet at age four, and later trained at the Colon Theater Superior Institute of Art. Erica Marsha Bougard (born July 26, 1993) is an American heptathlete. She was NCAA indoor champion in 2013 and represented the United States at the 2013 World Championships. Erica Bartolina (née Boren) (born May 15, 1980 in Corvallis, Oregon) is an American pole vaulter. She set a personal best of 4.55 m by placing third at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, which guaranteed her a qualifying place for the Olympics.
