Erik Nygren
Major General Erik Gustav Vilhelm Nygren (18 July 1923 – 27 September 1999) was a Swedish Air Force officer. Nygren's senior command was Chief of the Air Staff from 1978 to 1980 and commanding officer of the Attack Group from 1980 to 1983. Early life Nygren was born on 18 July 1923 in Visby City Parish (''Visby stadsförsamling''), Sweden, the son of Artur Nygren, a senior postman, and his wife Ester (née Berg). Career Nygren was commissioned as an officer in the Swedish Air Force in 1946 with the rank of ''Fänrik''. He as promoted to Lieutenant in Östgöta Wing (F 3) in 1948 where he served as squadron commander from 1949 to 1954. Visby
Visby () is an urban area in Sweden and the seat of Gotland Municipality in Gotland County on the island of Gotland with 24,330 inhabitants . Visby is also the episcopal see for the Diocese of Visby. Lieutenant General Sven-Olof Olson (26 November 1926 – 20 April 2021) was a senior Swedish Air Force officer. He served as Commanding General of the Southern Military District from 1980 to 1982 and as Chief of the Air Force from 1982 to 1988. Major General Arvid ''Hans'' Magnus Neij (22 June 1921 – 24 April 1985) was a Swedish Air Force officer. Early life Neij was born on 22 June 1921 in Jönköping, Sweden, the son of Arvid Neij, an adjunct lecturer, and his wife Elsa (née Lund). He passed ''studentexamen'' in 1939 and attended the Swedish Air Force Candidate and Cadet School (''Flygvapnets aspirant- och kadettskola'') from 1939 to 1942. Major General Evert Karl Erik Båge (25 August 1925 – 21 January 2021) was a Swedish Air Force officer. Båge served as Chief of the Air Staff from 1980 to 1984 and as head of the Swedish Armed Forces Staff College from 1984 to 1990. Vice Admiral Bengt Jacob Schuback (15 May 1928 – 4 December 2015) was a Swedish Navy officer. He was Chief of the Defence Staff from 1978 to 1982 during which time the Soviet submarine ''U 137'' ran aground in Swedish waters. The Royal Order of the Sword (officially: ''Royal Order of the Sword''; Swedish: ''Kungliga Svärdsorden'') is a Swedish order of chivalry and military decoration created by King Frederick I of Sweden on February 23, 1748, together with the Order of the Seraphim and the Order of the Polar Star. The motto of the order is in Latin: ''Pro Patria'' (which means "For Fatherland"). Awarded to officers, and originally intended as an award for bravery and particularly long or useful service, it eventually became a more or less obligatory award for military officers after a certain number of years in service.
