Erik Gillberg
Erik Paul Oskar Gillberg MSc ''(diplomi-insinööri)'' (9 October 1926 – 21 February 1999) was a Finnish engineer, businessman and vuorineuvos. After graduating from Helsinki University of Technology, Gillberg worked in machine import business and then for Fiskars in different manager positions. He is best known as the General Manager of heavy vehicle producer Suomen Autoteollisuus, later Sisu-Auto, which he modernised thoroughly between 1971 and 1983. He was finally moved from office by the owner, state of Finland, because the company could not reach its financial targets. The rest of his career Gillberg worked in various positions of trust and consulting younger managers. Gillberg was married and he had four children. Vuorineuvos ("mining counselor", literally Finnish for "mountain counselor"; sv, bergsråd) is a Finnish honorary title granted by the President of Finland to leading figures in industry and commerce. The title is honorary and has no responsibilities and no privileges. All Finnish titles are non-hereditary. The only title of equal rank is ''valtioneuvos''. Origin and history The vuorineuvos title originated in late 18th-century Sweden when mining played a major role in the economy, including in Swedish-held Finland. During that era five Finns were awarded the title. From 1809 to 1917 in the semi-autonomous, Russian-ruled Grand Duchy of Finland a further 19 titles were awarded. The Patria Pasi (earlier known as the Sisu Pasi) is a Finnish-made six-wheeled armoured personnel carrier (APC) originally designed for Finnish Defence Forces. The first variant was produced in 1983 and serial production began in 1984. It was designed to operate with ease of use, simple structure and low-cost maintenance. Sisu SA-240
Sisu SA-240 is a heavy off-road lorry made by the Finnish heavy vehicle manufacturer Oy Sisu-Auto Ab from 1984 until 1991. The six-wheel drive lorry with payload of 12 000 kg was developed for pulling of heavy cannons of the Finnish Defence Forces. Development The Sisu SA-150 medium size off-road lorry turned out to be too weak to pull the heaviest, domestic made cannons of the Finnish Defence Forces. A new 6×6 lorry was suggested as a solution. The development work began in 1983. The first two prototypes, called SA-180, were powered by turbocharged Valmet 611 engines with a maximum output of 180 kW. The transmission, made by ZF, was equipped with a torque converter which enabled flexible driving on road and terrain. Sisu SA-150 is a medium-size, two-axle off-road lorry made by the Finnish heavy vehicle manufacturer Oy Sisu-Auto Ab from 1982 until 1991. The four-wheel-drive lorry with load capacity of 6 400 kg was developed for pulling of heavy cannons of the Finnish Defence Forces. Development Based on experience from Sisu A-45 and due to new, heavier cannons, there came a need for stronger vehicles in the Finnish Defence Forces. Due to this, Sisu-Auto started a development project of an entirely new medium size off-road lorry.
