Creston is a town in the Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, Canada. By road, Creston is roughly equidistant between Cranbrook ( to the east) and Castlegar ( to the west) along the Crowsnest Highway. Goat River (Kootenay River)
The Goat River is tributary of the Kootenay River in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The river meets the Kootenay near the town of Creston. The Goat River Dam, constructed in the 1930s, was an early source of electricity for the town. Before dikes were built, the river was a major source of spring flooding in the Creston valley. First opened in 1964, the highway travels 14 km (9 mi) northwest along the Kootenay River from its connection with Idaho State Highway 1 at the Rykerts Canada-U.S. border crossing to a point on the Crowsnest Highway (Highway 3) just 1 km (about ½ mi) west of Creston.
