Eric Young Sr.
Eric Orlando Young Sr. (born May 18, 1967) is an American former professional baseball second baseman and left fielder, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, and San Diego Padres. He has served as the first base coach for the Braves since 2018. He played college baseball and college football for Rutgers University. Raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Young attended New Brunswick High School, where he played basketball and football, in addition to baseball. Baseball career 1990s Young began his MLB career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1992, but soon became one of the original Colorado Rockies in 1993. The 1996 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 67th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the American League (AL) and National League (NL), the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball. The game was held on July 9, 1996, at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies of the National League. The Colorado Rockies' 1993 season was the first for the Rockies. They played in the National League West. Don Baylor was their manager. Playing their home games in a football stadium (Mile High Stadium), the Rockies set the all-time Major League record for attendance, drawing an incredible 4,483,350 fans. The 1992 Los Angeles Dodgers season was the 103rd for the franchise in Major League Baseball, and their 35th season in Los Angeles, California. Despite boasting what was nicknamed the "Outfield of Dreams", being manned by Eric Davis, Brett Butler, and Darryl Strawberry, injuries to key players and slumps from others contributed to the franchise's worst season since moving to Los Angeles with 63 wins and 99 losses for a last place finish in the NL West; it was their worst season since 1908 when they were known as the “Brooklyn Superbas”.
