Eric Robinson (conductor)
Eric Robinson (13 December 1908 – 24 July 1974) was a conductor and presenter of music for the BBC. During World War II, Robinson served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps: in 1943, he was with the depot band at Chilwell Central Ordnance Depot, and conducted "The Blue Rockets", a section of the band who provided light music. He was twice the musical director of the Eurovision Song Contest when staged in London in 1960 and 1963 and on other occasions between 1957 and 1965, Robinson conducted the orchestra accompanying the United Kingdom's entry in the competition. In 1962, he provided the financial support and backing for the Mellotron tape-replay keyboard, and was heavily involved in the original marketing and promotion. Eric Robinson (Canadian Politician)
Eric Robinson (born February 5, 1953) is an Aboriginal politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was previously a member of the Manitoba legislature, and a cabinet minister in the New Democratic government of Greg Selinger. Born in Norway House, Manitoba, he was placed in a residential school at the age of five. Robinson is a member of the Cross Lake First Nation, covered under Treaty 5. Robinson worked at a variety of jobs including dishwasher in Churchill, an addiction counsellor in British Columbia and a radio disc jockey. He has been active in Aboriginal issues for several years, and has worked for the Assembly of First Nations and the Brotherhood of Indian Nations, as well as other organizations promoting native rights within Canada. Before entering provincial politics, Robinson was also a producer and broadcaster for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and worked for Native Communications Incorporated. Eric Laidlaw Robinson (18 January 1929 – 7 January 1981) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Liberal Party and held ministerial office in the Fraser Government, serving as Minister for the Capital Territory (1975–1976), Post and Telecommunications (1976–1977), and Finance (1977–1979, 1979–1980). He represented the Queensland seat of McPherson in the House of Representatives from 1972 until his death in 1981. Eric Gascoigne Robinson
Rear Admiral Eric Gascoigne Robinson (16 May 1882 – 20 August 1965) was a Royal Navy officer and an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He earned his award by going ashore and single-handedly destroying a Turkish naval gun battery while a lieutenant commander with the fleet stationed off the Dardanelles during the Gallipoli campaign in the First World War. After these exploits, he was badly wounded on the front line on the Gallipoli Peninsula, but recovered and served continuously for the remainder of the war and into the Russian Civil War. In 1939 aged 57, he again volunteered for military service and spent three more years at sea, commanding convoys during the Battle of the Atlantic. Eric Robinson was a British water polo player who is credited with a gold medal in the 1900 Summer Olympics. Robinson was a member of the Osborne Swimming Club of Manchester, which fielded the winning team. Eric Maxwell Robinson FRCVS (1891 – 1982) was a South African veterinarian. He was born in Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, England and came to Knysna, South Africa in 1901 to join his parents. He was the son of John Andrew Robinson MRCVS (Edinburgh 1885) (4 March 1864 – 3 September 1915). Early life and education After he passed his matric at Mossel Bay he went on to study at the Royal Veterinary College, London where he obtained his MRCVS in 1912. This made him the first son of a veterinarian in South Africa to qualify as a veterinarian. After this, he practiced for one year in England and then returned to South Africa to work as an assistant to the renowned Sir Arnold Theiler at Onderstepoort. Eric Robinson (born June 14, 1995) is an American professional ice hockey winger currently playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Raised in Bellmawr, New Jersey, Robinson played prep hockey at Gloucester Catholic High School, graduating in 2013. Robinson was selected by the United States Hockey League (USHL)'s Dubuque Fighting Saints in the third round, 44th overall, in the 2013 USHL Entry Draft after his final Midget year. He played the 2013–14 season in the USHL before playing collegiate hockey with Princeton University of the ECAC conference. Robinson's development improved each year with the Tigers ice hockey team, increasing his points totals and role within the team.
