Eric Ortiz Aparicio (born 19 May 1977 in Mexico City) is a Mexican professional boxer that competes in the light flyweight (108 lb) division. Pro career Ortiz turned pro in 1996 and in 2005 captured the vacant WBC light flyweight title with a TKO win over José Antonio Aguirre. He lost the belt in his first defenCe to Brian Viloria. The following year he challenged IBF light flyweight title holder Ulises Solís but lost via TKO. After a couple of wins, he then lost in an eliminator to Z Gorres in 2007. Jorge Armando Arce Armenta (; born July 27, 1979), best known as Jorge Arce, is a Mexican former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2014. He is a multiple-time world champion, and the second boxer from Mexico to win world titles in four weight divisions (after Érik Morales, who first achieved the feat two months prior). Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. Professional boxing, or prizefighting, is regulated, sanctioned boxing. Professional boxing bouts are fought for a purse that is divided between the boxers as determined by contract. Most professional bouts are supervised by a regulatory authority to guarantee the fighters' safety. Most high-profile bouts obtain the endorsement of a sanctioning body, which awards championship belts, establishes rules, and assigns its own judges and referees. In contrast with amateur boxing, professional bouts are typically much longer and can last up to twelve rounds, though less significant fights can be as short as four rounds. The WBC is one of the four major governing bodies in professional boxing, and certifies world champions in 18 different weight class (boxing), weight classes.
