Eric Lopez (soccer)
Eric Lopez (born March 5, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for USL Championship club Orange County SC. Career Youth Lopez began playing with the LA Galaxy academy in 2012. Professional Lopez signed with LA Galaxy II ahead of their 2015 season. He was the youngest player ever to sign a United Soccer League contract. Lopez made his professional debut for LA Galaxy II as a 20th-minute substitute against Orange County Blues on August 20, 2016. He then became the starting goalkeeper for ''Los Dos'' in the middle of the 2017 USL season. On January 15, 2020, Lopez joined LA Galaxy's MLS roster. Lopez was released from Galaxy's main MLS roster following the 2021 season, but signed with Galaxy II on March 3, 2022. Westminster, California
Westminster is a city in northern Orange County, California, known for its many Vietnamese refugees who immigrated to the city during the 1980s. They settled largely in Little Saigon, and the city is known as the "capital" of overseas Vietnamese with 36,058 Vietnamese Americans and at 40.2% (2010), the highest municipal prevalence of Vietnamese Americans. MLS Next Pro is a men's professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that is affiliated with Major League Soccer. It launched in 2022 with 21 teams and will expand to 28 in 2023. The league comprises 27 reserve sides for MLS clubs and the independent Rochester New York FC. MLS Next Pro is classified as part of the third tier of the United States soccer league system. History On June 21, 2021, Major League Soccer announced the creation of a new professional league which would begin play in 2022. MLS has applied to the United States Soccer Federation for the league to be sanctioned as a Division III professional league, the same level currently occupied by USL League One and the National Independent Soccer Association and one level below the USL Championship. The 2023 MLS Next Pro season is the second season of MLS Next Pro, the reserve league of Major League Soccer. 27 clubs will participate in the 2023 season. Atlanta United 2, New York Red Bulls II and LA Galaxy II joined the league from the USL Championship. The expansion teams include Austin FC II (representing Austin FC), Crown Legacy FC (Charlotte FC), Huntsville City FC (Nashville SC), and Los Angeles FC 2 ( Los Angeles FC).
