Eric Gjerde
Eric Gjerde is an American politician and educator who is a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 67th district. Elected in 2020, he assumed office on January 11, 2021. Early life and education Gjerde earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and religion from Augustana College, a Master of Education in secondary education and another in educational administration from the University of Iowa, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Northern Iowa. Career After earning his first master's degree, Gjerde worked as a teacher and EMT in Le Roy, Minnesota. As an EdD student, he worked as a special education teacher at Clear Creek Amana High School. He has since worked as a special education teacher and coach in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Gjerde is a volunteer deputy with the Linn County, Iowa Sheriff's Office. Ashley Hinson
Ashley Elizabeth Hinson (born June 27, 1983) is an American politician and journalist serving as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 1st congressional district since 2021. Her district comprises much of the northeast quadrant of the state, including Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Dubuque. A member of the Republican Party, Hinson was the Iowa State Representative for the 67th district from 2017 to 2021, the first woman to represent the district. She won a seat in the United States House of Representatives in the 2020 election, narrowly defeating incumbent Democrat Abby Finkenauer. The Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD) is a public school district located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It has the second largest enrollment in the state of Iowa. The district has 21 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 3 high schools, and 1 alternative high school. The district is in Linn County. In addition to most of Cedar Rapids it serves Hiawatha, most of Robins, and Palo. Schools The district has 31 total schools, most of which are named after United States presidents. Linn County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 230,299, making it the second-most populous county in Iowa. The county seat is Cedar Rapids. Linn County is named in honor of Senator Lewis F. Linn of Missouri. Linn County is included in the Cedar Rapids, IA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Clear Creek Amana High School, or CCA High School, is a public senior high school in Tiffin, Iowa and a part of the Clear Creek–Amana Community School District. It serves the entire district. Augustana College is a private Lutheran college in Rock Island, Illinois. The college enrolls approximately 2,500 students. Its campus is adjacent to the Mississippi River and covers of hilly, wooded land. History Augustana College was founded as Augustana College and Theological Seminary in 1860 by the Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Augustana Synod.
