Eric Fry
Eric Fry (born September 14, 1987) is an American international rugby union player who plays prop. Fry last played for RC Vannes of the Pro D2 in France, and previously played in the English Premiership for Newcastle Falcons and London Scottish in the RFU Championship. He can play either tighthead prop or loosehead prop, and is considered a strong scrummager with a high work rate. Early life Fry played rugby in high school for Sacramento Jesuit, where he helped the school win the 2004 National High School Championship. He played college rugby at Cal, where he was a four time All-American selection and won four national championships. Club career Fry began playing for Old Boys University in 2012 in The Jubilee Cup. California Golden Bears Rugby
The California Golden Bears rugby team is the college rugby team of the University of California, Berkeley. The Golden Bears have won 33 championships since the national collegiate championships for rugby began in 1980. Current head coach and Cal alumnus Jack Clark took over the team in 1984, and has achieved prolonged success, leading the Bears to 28 national titles, including twelve consecutive championships from 1991 to 2002, five more consecutive titles from 2004 to 2008, and back-to-back titles in 2010 to 2011 and 2016 to 2017. Cal also competes in the Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC), the highest profile college rugby tournament in the US. The 2012 mid-year rugby union tests (also known as the Summer Internationals in the Northern Hemisphere) refer to the rugby union Internationals that were played through June, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. These matches marked the start of a global rugby calendar established by the International Rugby Board (IRB), which runs until 2019. The calendar includes a return of traditional tours by European teams, in which a team plays multiple Tests against a southern hemisphere side, often with mid-week matches against provincial or regional sides. The 2011 Rugby World Cup was the seventh Rugby World Cup, a quadrennial international rugby union competition inaugurated in 1987. The International Rugby Board (IRB) selected New Zealand as the host country in preference to Japan and South Africa at a meeting in Dublin on 17 November 2005. The tournament was won by New Zealand, who defeated France 8–7 in the final. The defending champions, South Africa, were eliminated by Australia 11–9 in the quarter-finals. The Churchill Cup was an annual rugby union tournament, held in June, contested by representative men's (and formerly women's) teams from Canada, England, the United States, and other invited teams (originally one and later three) from a wide array of countries. The 2010 end of season rugby exams, also known as the Autumn internationals in the northern hemisphere, saw Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in a competitive tour of the northern hemisphere. Nick Civetta (born November 5, 1989) is an American professional rugby player currently playing for Rugby United New York (RUNY) of Major League Rugby. He also plays internationally for the United States rugby team. He plays as a second row. He previously played for RC Vannes in the Rugby Pro D2. University rugby Civetta was born in White Plains, New York. Civetta's rugby career began at 18 when he began playing for the University of Notre Dame Rugby Football Club. Andrew Durutalo (born October 25, 1987) is a Fijian-raised American-born professional rugby player who plays for the Seattle Seawolves of Major League Rugby (MLR). He has been capped by the U.S. national sevens team and the United States national rugby union team. A varsity match is a fixture (especially of a sporting event or team) between two university teams, particularly Oxford and Cambridge. The Scottish Varsity rugby match between the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh at Murrayfield stadium is claimed to be the oldest recurring varsity match in the world, having been played since the 1860s.
