Eric Abrams
Eric Abrams (born c. 1974 in University City, San Diego) is a former Stanford placekicker High school Eric attended La Jolla Country Day School. The school at the time had played eight-man football. In his senior year, he was one of the top placekickers in the country, missing just 10 out of 189 extra points. College career Eric attended Stanford University. He played under head coach Bill Walsh, who referred to Abrams as a "sweetheart". As a freshman, Abrams made 15 out of 17 field goal attempts and scored all 21 extra points. He replaced junior Aaron Mills. Abrams had a distinct look; he was about 5-foot-7, weighed 160 pounds, and wore a one-bar face mask. Due to his appearance, his teammates nicknamed him Gazoo, after the Flintstones character. Abrams became the leading scorer in Stanford football history by breaking John Hopkins' record. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. George Blanda, Lou Groza, Frank Gifford and Paul Hornung are prominent examples of players who were stars at other positions as well as being known for their kicking abilities. John Hopkins (American Football)
John Hopkins (born c. 1969) is a former college football placekicker who played for Stanford University from 1987 to 1990. Hopkins' biggest game at Stanford was also his last: the 93rd Big Game, played on November 17, 1990. In the game, Stanford scored with twelve seconds left but still trailed Cal 25-24. Hopkins kicked an onside kick which Stanford recovered. The Arena Football League (AFL) was a professional arena football league in the United States. The Great Gazoo or simply Gazoo is a fictional character from the animated series ''The Flintstones''. He first appeared on the show on October 29, 1965. The Great Gazoo was voiced by actor Harvey Korman. Fictional biography The Great Gazoo is a tiny, green, floating scientist who was exiled to earth from his home planet for inventing a Doomsday Device.
