Erection (film)
''Erection'' is a 1971 short film by John Lennon with music by Yoko Ono. Synopsis The 19-minute film is a time-lapse video of the construction of the London International Hotel (now the London Marriott International, Marriott Hotel Kensington) at 147 Cromwell Road, Kensington. The film was made of photographs taken from a single point over a number of months in 1970 and 1971; Lennon sought permission to photograph the building's entire construction. The camera was fixed in place by Iain Macmillan, the photographer who captured the iconic 1969 ''Abbey Road'' album cover photograph. The footage was edited on 16 mm film by George Maciunas, founder of the Fluxus art movement and avant-garde contemporary of Ono. The film uses the songs "Airmale" and "You" from Ono's 1971 album ''Fly (Yoko Ono album), Fly'', as its soundtrack. ''Self-Portrait'' was a 1969 film made by the artist Yoko Ono. Premiering at the Institute of Contemporary Arts ICA in London in 1969, the 42 minute film consisted of a single shot of John Lennon's semi-erect penis. The film has since disappeared and is now Lost film, lost. Background On March 20, 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono married after ten months of dating. Yoko made several films in cooperation with Lennon. One of these films is ''Self-Portrait'', which was released in 1969. It was a film that showed John Lennon's penis for 42 minutes, which proved to be too unconventional for the audience, leading to the film to never be shown following its initial screening. Fly (Yoko Ono Album)
''Fly'' is the second album by Yoko Ono, released in 1971. Co-produced by Ono and John Lennon, the original release was a complete avant-garde/Fluxus package in a gatefold sleeve that came with a full-size poster and a postcard to order Ono's 1964 book ''Grapefruit''. Notable songs include the singles "Midsummer New York" and "Mrs. Lennon", "Hirake" (a.k.a. "Open Your Box") and " Don't Worry, Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking for Her Hand in the Snow)", that was dedicated to Ono's daughter Kyoko Cox. "Airmale", that benefits from the automated noise music machines of Fluxus musician Joe Jones, is the soundtrack to Lennon's film ''Erection'', showing a building being erected in time lapsed photography, while "Fly" is the soundtrack to Lennon and Ono's 1970 film ''Fly''.
