Sinan Erdem (May 9, 1927 – July 23, 2003) was a Turkish volleyball player and long-standing head of the Turkish Olympic Committee. Biography He was born on May 9, 1927 in Manisa, Turkey. After finishing the high school in Galatasaray High School, he was educated in Law at Istanbul University. Sinan started to play volleyball and tennis already in 1943. He became a professional player in 1949, and transferred in 1951 to the volleyball team of Galatasaray S.K. He played 12 times in the Turkey national team and became its captain. Nazim Erdem, (born 1 August 1970) is an Australian wheelchair rugby Paralympic gold and silver medalist. He has won two gold and two silver medals at five Paralympics from 2000 to 2016. Personal Nazim Erdem was born on 1 August 1970 in the Turkish city of Kayseri and later immigrated to Australia with his family. He became a quadriplegic at the age of 20 after diving off a pier into shallow water in an effort to impress some watching girls. As a youngster, he practiced holding his breath and could hold it for up to three minutes. His ability to hold his breath for a long period of time saved his life as he was under water for two-and-a-half minutes before he was rescued. He played Australian rules football and was an amateur boxer before the accident. Can Erdem (born 8 June 1987 in Istanbul) is a Turkish footballer who currently plays as a striker for Kırşehir Belediyespor. Career Erdem had begun his career at a local club, Alanya Belediyespor, based in Antalya. He was trained there until 2005 before joining Beşiktaş. After a short spell, he was promoted to senior squad by French manager Jean Tigana in 2006. Erdem then joined Kocaelispor on loan in the 2007–08 season.
