Erbach, Baden-Württemberg
Erbach (; ) is a town on the Danube River in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Located in the Alb-Donau (district), Alb-Donau District, Erbach lies between Ulm and Ehingen, Ehingen an der Donau on the southern edge of the Swabian Jura. History The oldest known mention of Erbach was in the Konstanz Tithe Book in 1275 as a parish called ''Irlebach'', although findings dating from the Neolithic Age indicate the area around Erbach was settled earlier. Erbach received town privileges on 1 August 2002. In 1972 the community Ringingen was incorporated into Erbach. In the course of community reforms in 1974 the communities Bach, Dellmensingen, Donaurieden and Ersingen were also incorporated into Erbach. Politics The mayor is elected for a term of eight years. The term of office of Paul Roth ended on November 26, 2010. His successor is Achim Gaus, who was elected on October 24, 2010 in the second round and has taken up his duties on 1 January 2011. Wolkersdorf Im Weinviertel
Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel is a town in the district of Mistelbach (district), Mistelbach in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It is situated in the Weinviertel, about 15 km north of Vienna, on the main road from Vienna to Brno (International E-road network, European route European route E461, E461). The municipality consists of the subdivisions Wolkersdorf, Riedenthal, Pfösing, Obersdorf and Münichsthal. It was elevated to town status in 1969. Population Infrastructure Wolkersdorf is connected by road (European route E461, E461/B7) with Vienna to the south and Gaweinstal and the Czech Republic to the north. Autobahns of Austria, Nordautobahn A5 was completed in December 2009. Erbach Castle
Erbach Castle is a patrician Renaissance castle situated on a hillside close to the city of Erbach an der Donau in the state of Baden Württemberg, Germany. It remains under private ownership. History The origins of the castle date back to the 12th century. The task of the castle was to secure and safeguard the important crossing over the river Danube. The keep was built during the reign of the House of Hohenstaufen and explicitly mentioned in a document from 1384. The Gothic spire was added at the end of the 15th century. The original modest Romanesque castle was extended in the 16th century into a renaissance palace. In 1525 during the German Peasants' War the castle was damaged by revolting farmers of the Baltringer Haufen. Hans von Paumgarten, a patrician from Augsburg, was enfeoffed with Erbach Castle in 1534.
