Eray Şamdan
Eray Şamdan (born 25 July 1997) is a Turkish karateka competing in the kumite. He won the silver medal in the men's 67 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In 2018, he took the bronze medal in the Kumite 60 kg event at the Mediterranean Games held in Tarragona, Spain. He won the bronze medal in the Kumite −60 kg event at the 2019 European Karate Championships in Guadalajara, Spain, and the gold medal in the same event at the 2021 European Championships in Poreč, Croatia. He qualified at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Paris, France to represent Turkey at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Kocaeli Province
Kocaeli Province ( tr, Kocaeli ili, ) is a Provinces of Turkey, province of Turkey and one of only three not to have the same official name as its capital, İzmit, which is thus also sometimes called Kocaeli. The 2022 Mediterranean Games ( ar, ألعاب البحر الأبيض المتوسط 2022, links=, lit=, translit=ʾAlʿāb al-Baḥr al-ʾAbyaḍ al-Mutawassiṭ 2022), officially known as the XIX Mediterranean Games and commonly known as Oran 2022, was an international multi-sport event held from 25 June to 6 July 2022 in Oran, Algeria. Oran was announced as the host city at the ICMG General Assembly in Pescara, Italy, on 15 August 2015. 3,390 athletes took part in the games. Bidding process Five cities signed an official declaration of candidacy for hosting the 2021 Mediterranean Games, two from Africa and three from Europe: The final candidates were Oran and Sfax. 2021 Karate World Olympic Qualification Tournament
The Olympics Karate 2020 Qualification Tournament was held from 11 to 13 June, 2021. The event took place in AccorHotels Arena sports hall, located in Paris, France. The tournament consisted of four categories for both men and women, as determined for Tokyo 2020. Each NOC had the opportunity to register one athlete for each of the eight categories, with exception to any category where they already have an athlete qualified for Tokyo 2020 through the Olympic Standing of May 2021. The four categories for both men and women included Kata, as well as three other classes created from the combining of the remaining five ( WKF) weight categories. Host country athletes (Japan) only were able to register and compete in those categories in which no Japanese athlete is among the 50 highest ranked in the WKF Ranking as of May 2021. Kumite
Kumite ( ja, 組手, literally "grappling hands") is one of the three main sections of karate training, along with kata and kihon. Kumite is the part of karate in which a person trains against an adversary. Kumite can be used to develop a particular technique or a skill (e.g. effectively judging and adjusting one's distance from one's opponent) or it can be done in competition. Types Since the word "kumite" refers to forms of sparring, it covers a vast range of activities. In traditional Shotokan karate, the first type of kumite for beginners is ''gohon kumite''.
