Eran Ganot
Eran Ganot (born September 8, 1981) is an American college basketball head coach for the University of Hawaii men's team. In 2015–16, his first season as head coach at Hawaii, he earned Big West Coach of the Year accolades. Early and personal life Ganot was born in Brooklyn, and raised in his hometown of Tenafly, New Jersey. He is Jewish. His father immigrated to the United States from Romania, and his mother immigrated to the US from Israel. He has a twin brother, named Asaf, a high-end fashion designer, and two sisters, Dani and Betty. Ganot attended Tenafly High School, graduating in 1999. Playing for his high school basketball team, he was a two-time all-league first-team selection, and was named all-county as a senior. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Basketball
The Hawaiʻi Rainbow Warriors basketball team represents the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in NCAA men's competition. (Women's sports teams at the school are known as Rainbow Wahine.) The team currently competes in the Big West Conference after leaving its longtime home of the Western Athletic Conference in July 2012. The team's most recent appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was in 2016, with them getting their first NCAA Tournament victory that same year as well. The Jewish Coaches Association (JCA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 that supports Jewish-American college, high school, and youth basketball coaches around the United States. The association is an advocacy group for coaches to represent coaches to the NCAA and National Association of Basketball Coaches. Founding members include Bobby Schwartz, founding national director; and Bruce Pearl, who served as the first president of the association. Annual events and awards The JCA holds an annual breakfast for Jewish coaches at the Final Four and sometimes offers Shabbat services for coaches and their families during the Final Four weekend of events. The 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 11, 2016. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic, and ended with the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona on April 3, 2017. Practices officially began on September 30, 2016. Rule changes The only rule change for the regular season was allowing coaches to ask for timeouts in situations of inbounds on offense or defense. Coaches are still not permitted to call timeouts in live-ball situations. The NCAA approved a number of experimental rule changes for use in the 2017 postseason NIT: * Team fouls were reset to zero at the 10:00 mark of each half. The 2016 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the men's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college basketball national champion for the 2015–16 season. The 78th edition of the Tournament began on March 15, 2016, and concluded with the championship game on April 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. 2015–16 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors basketball team represented the University of Hawaii at Manoa during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rainbow Warriors, led by first year head coach Eran Ganot, played their home games at the Stan Sheriff Center, and were members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 28–6, 13–3 in Big West play to tie for the Big West regular season championship. They beat Cal State Fullerton, UC Santa Barbara, and Long Beach State to become champions of the Big West tournament and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Randy Bennett
Randall William Bennett (born June 9, 1962) is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Saint Mary's College of California. He led the team to several second-place finishes and seven NCAA tournament appearances, culminating in regular season conference championships in 2011, 2012 and 2016 as well as WCC tournament championships in 2010, 2012 and 2019. Early life and college playing career Born in Mesa, Arizona, Bennett graduated from Westwood High School in Mesa and began his collegiate career at Mesa Community College, playing under his father Tom from 1980 to 1982. The 2013–14 Saint Mary's Gaels men's basketball team represented Saint Mary's College of California during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
