Cody Eppley
Cody Allen Eppley (born October 8, 1985) is an American former professional baseball pitcher and coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees. Amateur career Eppley attended Northern High School in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, where he pitched for the school's baseball team. He then enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he played college baseball for the VCU Rams baseball team, competing in the Colonial Athletic Association. Professional career Texas Rangers The Texas Rangers drafted Eppley in the 43rd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft. He pitched to a 2.10 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 25.2 innings for the Arizona Rangers of the Rookie-level Arizona League and was named a Post-Season All-Star. Geary Francis "Swede" Eppley ( December 30, 1895 – June 10, 1978) was an American university administrator, professor, agronomist, military officer, athlete, and track and field coach. He served as the University of Maryland athletic director from 1937 to 1947, during which time the school's athletic teams won seven national championships. Eppley worked in various capacities for Prince George's County and for private charities. He served in the United States Army during the First and Second World Wars. Marion Eppley
Marion Eppley (19 June 1883, West Orange, New Jersey – 22 November 1960, Oyster Bay, New York) was an American physical chemist. Biography Eppley received from Princeton University his B.S. in 1906, M.A. in 1912, and Ph.D. in 1919. He married his first wife, Ethelberta Pyne ''née'' Russell, on 6 May 1909 in Trinity Church, Princeton. During WW I, Eppley was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and after the war became a naval reserve officer. In 1941 he was recalled to active duty as a captain. His research dealt with improvements in cadmium storage batteries, as well as thermal radiation instrumentation. He directed the Eppley Research Laboratory until his death in 1960. In 1947 he established the Eppley Foundation for Research, and his will created a charitable trust to support the Foundation and the Marion Eppley Wildlife Refuge. The Eugene C. Eppley Foundation was founded in Omaha, Nebraska. Founded by Omaha hotel magnate Eugene C. Eppley, the foundation was the leading benefactor for several charities and institutions in the Midwestern United States. (This is not to be confused with the Eppley Foundation for Research, which primarily supports advanced postdoctoral research in the physical and biological sciences. The latter was founded by Marion Eppley, and its offices are based in New York City.) Eppley Airfield , also known as Omaha Airport, is an airport in the midwestern United States, located northeast of downtown Omaha, Nebraska. On the west bank of the Missouri River in Douglas County, it is the largest airport in Nebraska, with more arrivals and departures than all other airports in the state combined. It is classified as a medium hub airport by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It is owned and operated by the Omaha Airport Authority (OAA).
