Epic Poker League
The Epic Poker League was a series of poker tournaments which took place in 2011, organised by Federated Sports + Gaming. Former World Series of Poker commissioner Jeffrey Pollack served as Executive Chairman, professional poker player Annie Duke was Commissioner, and Matt Savage was Tournament Director. The three events held took place at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. Season One received television coverage on CBS and Velocity Network. The League was exclusionary in that it was only open to poker players who met certain qualification criteria for multimillion-dollar lifetime earnings, multiple wins and/or cashes at high level tournaments, and who were supposed to maintain adherence to a specifically defined Code of Conduct. On 29 February 2012, Federated Sports + Gaming announced that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Jason Mercier (born November 12, 1986) is an American professional poker player from Hollywood, Florida. He has won five World Series of Poker bracelets and one European Poker Tour title. Mercier is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and was named the Bluff Magazine Player of the Year for 2009. He was WSOP player of the year in 2016. Scott Clements (born July 19, 1981) is a professional poker player from Mount Vernon, Washington, United States, who has won titles in both World Poker Tour (WPT) and World Series of Poker (WSOP) events. Clements has twice won championship bracelets at the WSOP, winning the $3,000 Omaha Hi-Lo tournament in 2006 and the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2007. Michael David Mizrachi (born January 5, 1981) is an American professional poker player who won the 2010, 2012 and 2018 World Series of Poker $50,000 Players Championship. Mizrachi also has two World Poker Tour titles, and he finished 5th in the Main Event of the 2010 World Series of Poker. In January 2013, Mizrachi signed on as a team pro member with Lock Poker. Joseph "Joe" Tehan (born September 15 in Utica, New York) is an American professional poker player. Tehan was introduced to poker at college where he played with his friends. He started out playing low limits but soon began traveling to casinos to play at higher stakes. Inspired by the 1998 movie ''Rounders'', Boyd began playing online poker day and night through his last year of law school. McDonald is the youngest person to win an event on the European Poker Tour (EPT) and the youngest person to win an event on the Epic Poker League (EPL).
