	Ephierodula The ''Hierodulinae'' are a subfamily of praying mantids, originally used by Brunner von Wattenwyl. It was restored as part of a major revision of mantid taxonomy, and now contains genera previously placed elsewhere in the family Mantidae. The new placement means that this taxon is part of the superfamily Mantoidea (of group Cernomantodea) and infraorder Schizomantodea. Species have been recorded from: Africa, Asia and Australia. 	Hierodula ''Hierodula'' is a genus of praying mantids in the tribe Hierodulini, found throughout Asia. Many species are referred to by the common name giant Asian mantis because of their large size compared to other mantids. Their large size and vibrant coloration make ''Hierodula'' mantids popular in the pet trade. Some widespread species include '' H. membranacea'' and '' H. patellifera''; however this has been considered a 'catch all' genus and is currently subject to review. 	Pnigomantis ''Pnigomantis'' is a genus of mantises in the family Mantidae. It is monotypic, being represented by the single species ''Pnigomantis medioconstricta''Westwood JO (1889) ''Revis. Mantid.'' 35, pl. 12, f. 4. common name Indonesian double shield mantis or double shield mantis. Description Adult males are about 79 millimeters in length while adult females are about 86 to 89 millimeters in length. The coloration is highly variable, and seemingly not related to environmental conditions. There are red bands in between the upper abdominal segments used in the threat display used to deter predators. The characteristic "double shield" appears roughly after the fifth instar, females have nine instars, while males have eight. The inside of the forearms is a light blue-purple color, with dark black markings on the lower arms to seemingly act as eyespots.
