Epafras Mukwiilongo
Hon. Jan Epafras M. Mukwilongo is a Namibian politician and a businessman. Founding leader and self-styled "Commander-in-Chief" of the Namibian Economic Freedom Fighters in 24 June 2014. He was elected to the 7th National Assembly in 2019. The NEFF is known for its left-wing economic views, including calls to nationalize Namibia's vast natural resources, opposition toward Chinese and Indian investors whom the NEFF claim are destroying the Namibian local business, and anti-LGBT social views. In the Presidential election, which coincided with the National Assembly election, Mukwiilongo finished in 11th and last place with 1,026 votes (0.1%). Namibian Economic Freedom Fighters
The Namibian Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) is a political party in Namibia. It was formed in June 2014. The party has close links to the South African Economic Freedom Fighters. Economically, the two parties are similar, with the NEFF describing itself as a pro-freedom, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist movement, to be against foreign exploitation of the country's natural resources, and proposing that land and its natural resources be owned by indigenous people. Led by former SWAPO member Epafras Mukwiilongo, the party differs from its South African relative in its anti-homosexual rhetoric, with Mukwiilongo stating that "Today, the imperialists are manipulating/influencing our nation through homosexual practices. The NEFF is committed to uniting all Namibians to root out this evil practice. Namibia will never be ruled by homosexuals". The party contested the 2014 general elections. 2019 Namibian General Election
General elections were held in Namibia on 27 November 2019. Ballots were cast using electronic voting. A total of eleven candidates ran for the presidency and fifteen political parties contested the National Assembly elections. Hage Geingob of SWAPO was re-elected to the presidency, although his vote share was reduced from 87% in 2014 to 56%, their lowest vote share for a presidential election in the party's history. SWAPO also retained their majority in the National Assembly, but lost their two-thirds supermajority. Electoral system The President of Namibia is elected using the two-round system; if no candidate receives more than 50% in the first round of voting, a run-off will be held. No previous presidential votes in Namibia have gone to a second round. Omusati Region
Omusati ( ng, Mopane, after the dominant tree in the area) is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia, its capital is Outapi. The towns of Okahao, Oshikuku and Ruacana as well as the self-governed village Tsandi are situated in this region. , Omusati had 148,834 registered voters. The region is home to the Ruacana Falls and the Omugulugwombashe heritage site, where the Namibian struggle for independence started in 1966. Geography In the north, Omusati borders the Cunene Province of Angola. The Congress of Democrats (CoD) is a Namibian opposition party without representation in the National Assembly and led by Ben Ulenga. It was established in 1999, prior to that year's general elections, and started off with a number of notable politicians that left the ruling SWAPO party. The ''New Era'' is a daily national newspaper owned by the government of Namibia. The newspaper is one of four daily national newspapers in the country, the others being ''The Namibian'' (English and Oshiwambo), ''Die Republikein'' (Afrikaans) and '' Allgemeine Zeitung'' (German).
