Alan Entwistle
Alan Entwistle (March 10, 1949 – March 28, 1996) was a scholar of the Hindi language. He was a professor at the University of Washington. Early life and education Entwistle was born on March 10, 1949, in Weymouth, Dorset, Weymouth, England. He completed his undergraduate education with an honors Bachelor of Arts in French language at the University of Southampton in 1971. He then moved on to the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, completing a Master of Arts in South Asia Area Studies in 1975. In 1982 he completed his Doctor of Philosophy, PhD in Hindi, writing a dissertation ''The Rasa mana ke pada of Kevalarama, a medieval Hindi text of the Eighth Gaddi of the Vallabha Sampradaya''. John Entwistle
John Alec Entwistle (9 October 194427 June 2002) was an English musician who was the bassist for the rock band The Who. Entwistle's music career spanned over four decades. Nicknamed "The Ox" and "Thunderfingers", he was the band's only member with formal musical training and also provided backing and occasional lead vocals. Entwistle was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Who in 1990. Renowned for his musical abilities, Entwistle's instrumental approach used pentatonic lead lines and a then-unusual treble-rich sound ("full treble, full volume"). Wayne Peter Entwistle (born 6 August 1958) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. During his career, he made over 300 appearances in the Football League and played for twelve different clubs including three spells with Bury. Owing to his numerous transfers, he is the only person to have played for eight different FA Cup winning clubs. Career Having represented England at youth level, Entwistle began his club career with his hometown team Bury in August 1976. After making 31 league appearances, he was sold to Sunderland in November 1977 for £30,000. He went on to make over 50 appearances in all competitions for the club. Robert Entwistle (20 October 1941 – 11 July 2019) was an English cricketer. Entwistle was a right-handed batsman. He was born in Burnley, Lancashire. Entwistle made his first-class debut for Lancashire against Gloucestershire in the 1962 County Championship. He made 47 further first-class appearances for the county, the last of which came against Yorkshire in the 1966 County Championship. In these matches he scored a total of 1,554 runs at an average of 20.72, with a highest score of 85 against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1964. His List A debut came against Leicestershire in the preliminary round of the 1963 Gillette Cup, which was the first ever List A match to be played. Opening the batting, he was the first person to be dismissed in List A cricket, hit wicket to Rodney Pratt for 18. Ralph Entwistle
Ralph Entwistle (1804–2 November 1830) was an English labourer who was transported to the British penal colony of New South Wales as a convict in 1827. As a member of the Ribbon Gang, his escape sparked the Bathurst Rebellion of 1830. He, along with nine of his gang members, were captured by police and executed in 1830. Biography Entwistle was born in 1803 (possibly 1805) in Bolton, a small mill town near Manchester. He was initially an apprentice bricklayer, but in 1826, he and an accomplice stole clothing after breaking into a house. His partner was freed due to lack of evidence but Entwistle was sentenced to transportation for life in 1827. Initially detained in a private prison hulk on the Thames, he was boarded onto the convict ship ''John'', departing around 18 July 1827 along with 187 other convicts, arriving in Sydney on 25 November.
