Karate Stances
Karate has many different Stance (martial arts), stances, each used for different types of power and movement. In Japanese the general term is changing to dachi when used as a suffix. Some stances focus more on mobility than stability, and vice versa. High stances In all these stances the knees are bent very slightly. There are no stances where weight rests on a leg with a completely straight knee. Heisoku-dachi (閉足立, Feet together stance) Feet together. Jump Kick
A jump kick is a type of kick in certain martial arts and in martial-arts based gymnastics, with the particularity that the kick is delivered while in the air, specifically moving ("flying") into the opponent after a running start to gain forward momentum. Soto Uke
In Shotokan karate, soto uke is a blocking technique used for blocking mid-level incoming attacks. It is roughly translated as "From outside block", similar to Osotogari (leg throw from the outside), which comes from the block's final resting point centered on the blocker's body. The opposite of soto uke is uchi uke ("From inside block"). Soto uke is performed by bringing one hand to the ear, keeping the elbow raised, and sweeping the arm down and out towards the center of the body. The preparatory step of raising the arm gives the block more momentum, making it somewhat painful to encounter. A different application involves extending the non-blocking hand in front before performing the block. This represents grabbing the attacker's arm. The motion termed the block, then, is actually meant to break the arm, which would explain the necessity of the extra momentum. A roundhouse kick (also known as round kick or turning kick) is a kick in which the practitioner lifts the knee while turning the supporting foot and body in a semicircular motion, extending the leg striking with the lower part of the shin and/or the instep (top of the foot). Mawashi Geri
can be translated as "spin kick", although it is also sometimes referred to as a roundhouse kick. It is a kick used in Japanese martial arts. Technique Mawashi geri may be executed from a variety of stances, and there are several methods of proper execution. Technique is mainly used in Karate, Jujutsu, Kenpo etc. The portion of its execution that is always consistent is that the kick is executed inward and at an angle that is anywhere from parallel to the floor to 45 degrees upward.
