Enoch Mort
Enoch Francis Mort (5 March 1912 – 1999) was a Welsh professional footballer who played in the Football League as a centre-half for Cardiff City and Carlisle United. Career Born in Ogmore Vale, Mort played amateur football for Gilfach Goch before joining Cardiff City in February 1934. He made his first-team debut on 3 March 1934 in a 3–1 victory over Queens Park Rangers and remained in the side for the final twelve matches of the season. However, at the end of the season, Cardiff signed Billy Bassett who became first choice. Mort remained with Cardiff until 1938, making sporadic appearances, before joining Carlisle United. He was a cousin of Aston Villa defender Tommy Mort Thomas Mort (1 December 1897 – 6 June 1967) was an English footballer who played club football primarily for Aston Villa, as a left-back. Ogmore Vale
Ogmore Vale ( cy, Cwm Ogwr) is a village (and electoral ward) in the county borough of Bridgend, Wales on the River Ogmore. The village's main source of income came from coal mining. Up until the year 1865, the Ogmore valley was a quiet, isolated, rural hill farming community of less than ten farms and a few cottages. Carlisle ( , ; from xcb, Caer Luel) is a city that lies within the Northern English county of Cumbria, south of the Scottish border at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril. Billy Bassett (Welsh Footballer)
William Edward George Bassett (8 June 1912 – 1977) was a Welsh professional footballer. During his career, he made over 200 appearances in the Football League in spells with Cardiff City and Crystal Palace. Career Bassett began his career at Aberaman Athletic before moving on to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1933. He only spent a single season at Wolves, without making a first-team appearance, before returning to Wales and signing for manager Ben Watts-Jones at Cardiff City. He made his debut on the opening day of the 1934–35 season during a 2–1 victory over Charlton Athletic and was a virtual ever-present in his four years, scoring two goals for the Bluebirds, against Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic and Bristol City.
