Enoch Henry Light (August 18, 1907 – July 31, 1978) was an American classically trained violinist, danceband leader, and recording engineer. As the leader of various dance bands that recorded as early as March 1927 and continuing through at least 1940, Light and his band primarily worked in various hotels in New York. For a time in 1928 he also led a band in Paris. In the 1930s Light also studied conducting with the French conductor Maurice Frigara in Paris. Throughout the 1930s, Light and his outfits were steadily employed in the generally more upscale hotel restaurants and ballrooms in New York that catered to providing polite ambiance for dining and functional dance music of current popular songs rather than out-and-out jazz. At some point his band was tagged The Light Brigade and they often broadcast over radio live from the Hotel Taft in New York, where they had a long residency. Enoch Olusesan Showunmi (born 21 April 1982) is a former professional footballer who played as a striker. Born in England, he played for Nigeria at international level and won two caps for the team. Career Luton Town Showunmi joined Luton Town in early September 2003 following a successful trial spell with the club that saw him feature regularly during the 2003–04 pre-season against such teams as AFC Wimbledon. At the time of his signature Luton had a small squad due to the administrative receivership that they were under, which prevented them signing new players. Enoch Tranter
Enoch Tranter (27 April 1842 – 23 September 1910) was an English cricketer active in the mid-1870s. Born at Old Park, Shropshire, Tranter was a left-handed batsman and left-arm roundarm fast bowler who made three appearances in first-class cricket. During the 1870s Tranter played his club cricket for Sefton Park in Liverpool, and was selected to play for Lancashire in 1875, making his debut in first-class cricket against Derbyshire at Old Trafford. He made two further first-class appearances for Lancashire, one in 1875 against the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord's, and against Kent at Rochdale in 1876. Tranter took 3 wickets with his roundarm bowling, with best figures of 2/11. When fielding he would often field at slip. His occupation outside of cricket was as a coal miner. Enoch Storer
Enoch Storer (18 May 1838 – 1 July 1880) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Lancashire between 1865 and 1878. Storer was born at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. He became a cricket professional at Ashton-under-Lyne in 1861. In 1863 he played for Boughton and in 1864 spent a year at Exeter College, Oxford. At the end of the 1864 season he moved on the Longsight Club at Manchester. He made his debut for Lancashire in the club's second first-class match which was against Middlesex in August 1865. He accompanied three amateurs from Longsight - Edwin Bousfield, Lewis Moorsom and R.Slater He scored 6 not out and 23, and took one wicket for 29 runs. Thabiso Enoch Nkwe (born 8 February 1983) is a South African cricket coach and former first class cricketer. He played 42 first class and 38 List A matches for Lions and Gauteng between 2002 and 2009 before becoming a coach. He is Cricket South Africa Director of Cricket. Early life Nkwe was born in Soweto, Johannesburg. He played football until the age of eleven when he was introduced to cricket. This led to him being awarded a cricket scholarship to attend St Stithians College in Johannesburg. Playing career Nkwe made a century on his first class debut for Gauteng against Easterns at the age of 19 in 2002. He was the first black South African player to do so and only the fourth Gauteng player to achieve this. His form earned him a call up to the National Academy in 2003. Enoch Percy Jeavons (12 January 1893 – 29 July 1967) was an English first-class cricketer who played a single game for Worcestershire against Gloucestershire in June 1924. He made little impression on what was a disastrous game for his county, scoring 0 in the first innings as Worcestershire lost their first five wickets for just four runs before recovering to make 115, then making 1 not out in the second as they were bowled out for 48 to hand Gloucestershire a 102-run victory. Enoch "Nuck" Brown, Jr. (May 19, 1892 – 1962) was an All-Southern college football end for the Vanderbilt Commodores of Vanderbilt University. Early years Enoch Brown, Jr. was born on May 19, 1892, in Franklin, Tennessee, to Enoch Brown, Sr. and Lucinda Allen. His older brother Innis Brown was captain of the 1905 Vanderbilt Commodores football team and a long time official. Enoch, Jr. attended preparatory school at Battle Ground Academy.
