Yenisey-STM Rugby Club is a Russian rugby union club founded in 1975. It is one of the two powerful Krasnoyarsk clubs, the other being their cross town rivals Krasny Yar. They participate in the Professional Rugby League, the premier rugby championship of Russia, and in 2015–16 qualified for the European Rugby Challenge Cup, making them the first Russian rugby union club ever to compete in a major European club competition. With an operating budget of €3.5m they are largest club in Russia. History The club was founded in 1975 as ''Trud Krasnoyarsk'' (russian: Труд, "labour"), but in 1978 was renamed ''Sibtyazhmash Krasnoyarsk'' (russian: Сибтяжмаш). The Russian Rugby Championship, officially known as the Liga Stavok - Russian Rugby Championship for sponsorship reasons (russian: Лига Ставок - Чемпионат России по регби), is Russia's top level professional men's rugby union competition. The Russian Rugby Championship is run by Russian Rugby Union and is contested by 10 teams as of the 2019-2020 season. European Rugby Continental Shield
The European Rugby Continental Shield (formerly the European Rugby Challenge Cup Qualifying Competition) was a rugby union competition, organised by European Professional Club Rugby, Rugby Europe and the Federazione Italiana Rugby, for entry into the European Rugby Challenge Cup. The Qualifying Competition was first announced in April 2014, at the same time as the announcement of the creation of the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup competitions. The tournament featured teams from non-EPCR countries, such as Spain, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Georgia, Russia and Portugal, as well as select Italian Eccellenza clubs. Uldis Saulite
Uldis Saulite ( lv, Uldis Saulīte) (born 28 September 1980) is a Latvian rugby union footballer. He plays as a lock. Career Born in Jelgava, the young Uldis did not play the game until he was 16. Naturally big and strong, he soon caught the eye of a couple of former Latvian internationals, one of whom gave him the money to pay for the late bus home from training he could not otherwise have afforded. He grew steadily fitter and found rugby an enjoyable release from his day job as an apprentice carpenter. Shortly after Uldis had turned 21, a Latvian referee based in Russia advised him that a club side in Siberia called Enisei-STM were trialling new players. Krasny Yar Krasnoyarsk
Krasny Yar Krasnoyarsk is a Russian rugby union club founded in 1969 in the city of Krasnoyarsk. They compete in the Professional Rugby League, the premier league in the country. They have an operating budget of 2.5m Euros. Their main rival is fellow Krasnoyarsk based, Enisey-STM. Krasny-Yar play in white and green, and moved into their own purpose-built stadium. The stadium holds 3,600 spectators and is the first rugby-specific stadium east of the Urals. The stadium sold out for a game against VVA-Monino (2 August 2010). 2011 Russian Professional Rugby League Season
The 2011 Russian Professional Rugby League season will be the seventh edition of the competition since its transition from the Super League. The reigning champions, VVA Monino will be attempting to secure a recording breaking ninth championship and overtake Krasny Yar as the most successful Russian rugby union side in the professional era. There have again been a number of changes and events taking place behind the scenes at the Russian Rugby Union. At the start of the season, rumours spread that the league would again expand, possibly to as many as fifteen (15) teams. The Central Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Island of Rest, Krasnoyarsk, Russia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk. It also hosts some matches of the Russian national rugby union team, Krasny Yar and Enisei-STM. The stadium was designed by the architect V. Orekhov in 2.5 years and was opened on October 29, 1967. The Heidelberger Ruderklub (Heidelberger RK or HRK for short) is a German rowing club and rugby union club from Heidelberg, currently playing in the Rugby-Bundesliga.
