Enfield Center, New Hampshire
Enfield Center is an unincorporated community in the town of Enfield in Grafton County, New Hampshire. It is a separate community from the much larger village of Enfield, which is located in the northern corner of the town. Enfield Center is located, as the name suggests, near the geographic center of the town of Enfield. It lies along New Hampshire Route 4A, about south of the south end of Mascoma Lake and about south of Enfield village. The Knox River flows north through the village on its way from George Pond to Mascoma Lake. Enfield Center has a separate ZIP code (03749) from the rest of the town of Enfield. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Knox River
The Knox River is a river in western New Hampshire in the United States. The river is an inlet of Mascoma Lake, which drains by the Mascoma River to the Connecticut River and ultimately Long Island Sound. The Knox River lies entirely in the town of Enfield. Mascoma Lake
Mascoma Lake is a lake in western New Hampshire, United States. Most of the lake is within the town of Enfield, while a small portion is within the city of Lebanon, where it drains into the Mascoma River, a tributary of the Connecticut River. The lake's general trend is from southeast to northwest, with the outlet at the northwestern end. The Mascoma River enters the lake near its halfway point, from the northeastern side, at the town center of Enfield. The southeastern end of the lake is fed by the Knox River. The lake's average depth is with a maximum depth of . The lake freezes during winter and is stable enough to be walked upon. Ice fishing is popular on the lake. Enfield is a census-designated place (CDP) and the main village in the town of Enfield in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 1,571 at the 2020 census, out of 4,465 in the entire town. Geography The CDP is in the northwest corner of the town of Enfield, on the north side of Mascoma Lake where the Mascoma River enters it. The CDP is bordered to the south by Mascoma Lake, as far as Rainer Road on the east side of the lake; to the west by the city of Lebanon; to the north by the town of Canaan; and to the east by Shaker Boulevard, Wescott Road, and the Northern Rail Trail running east to the Canaan line. Centre Village Meeting House
The Centre Village Meeting House (also known as Union Church of Enfield Center) is a historic meeting house (church) on New Hampshire Route 4A in Enfield Center, New Hampshire. Built in 1836, it is a well-preserved late example of Federal period church architecture, albeit with some Greek Revival stylistic elements. Then as now, it serves as a nondenominational building, serving a variety of small Christian congregations. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
