Energy Management (degree)
Energy Management (EM) is a business-specific degree, with a broad curriculum focusing on multiple facets of the energy industry: business (accounting, management, marketing, economics and MIS), geology, petroleum engineering, and law. The American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) provides curriculum guidance and program support for approved petroleum land management programs. Currently, the AAPL has 10 accredited universities in the United States and Canada. The University of Oklahoma offered the first degree of this kind, emerging in 1958 as the Petroleum Land Management program before becoming the Energy Management program in 1999. The University of Oklahoma program remains one of the top energy management programs in the United States. American Association Of Professional Landmen
The American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) is a professional organization in the United States that unites approximately 18,000 landmen and land-related persons in North America through professional development and service. AAPL's mission is to promote standards of performance for all land professionals, to advance their stature and to encourage sound stewardship of energy and mineral resources. Certification The association started a voluntary certification program in June 1979. The AAPL provides three levels of certification to attest to a landman's knowledge and expertise. A Registered Landman, the initial certification, identifies someone with a fundamental knowledge of the land industry. The Registered Professional Landman certification identifies someone who has professional experience as a landman.
