Energia Kemerovo (russian: Энергия Кемерово) was an ice hockey team in Kemerovo, Russia. History The club was founded in 1997 as HC Kemerovo and was renamed Energia Kemerovo a year later. In 2000, they made it to the promotion round of the Vysshaya Liga and won promotion to the league by defeating Motor Barnaul Motor Barnaul (russian: Мотор Барнаул) was an ice hockey team in Barnaul, Russia. History The club was founded in 1959 as the successor club to Spartak Barnaul, which had been founded in 1954. In Soviet times, Barnaul participated in ... three games to two in a best-of-five series. From 2001-2007, the club participated annually in the Vysshaya Liga. The team withdrew from the Vysshaya Liga in the summer of 2007 as their home rink, SCC Oktiabrski, was undergoing renovations. Since then, they have only fielded junior teams. Kemerovo ( rus, Ке́мерово, p=ˈkʲemʲɪrəvə) is an industrial city and the administrative center of Kemerovo Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Iskitimka and Tom Rivers, in the major coal mining region of the Kuznetsk Basin. Population: The city was known as ''Shcheglovsk'' until March 27, 1932. History Kemerovo is an amalgamation of, and successor to, several older Russian settlements. A waypoint named Verkhotomsky ''ostrog'' was established nearby in 1657 on a road from Tomsk to Kuznetsk fortress. In 1701, the settlement of Shcheglovsk was founded on the left bank of the Tom; soon it became a village. By 1859, seven villages existed where modern Kemerovo is now: Shcheglovka (or Ust-Iskitimskoye), Kemerovo (named in 1734), Yevseyevo, Krasny Yar, Kur-Iskitim (Pleshki), Davydovo (Ishanovo), and Borovaya. Motor Barnaul (russian: Мотор Барнаул) was an ice hockey team in Barnaul, Russia. History The club was founded in 1959 as the successor club to Spartak Barnaul, which had been founded in 1954. In Soviet times, Barnaul participated in various lower-level leagues. In the 1998–99 season the club participated in the second-level league organized by the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia. From 1999-2006, the club participated in the second-level Russian league, the Vysshaya Liga. The club was dissolved due to financial problems in 2006.
