Enel Generación Chile S.A., formerly known as Endesa Chile and Empresa Nacional de Electricidad, is the largest Electric power transmission, electric Public utility, utility company in Chile. It was created as a subsidiary of the state-owned CORFO on 1 December 1943 and was privatized in 1989. As of April 2009, it is owned by Enersis with a 60% stake, which in turn is 61% owned by Endesa International SA, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Spanish Endesa (Spain), Endesa Group. Besides Chile, the Company has investments in Argentina, Colombia and Peru. It also has unconsolidated equity investments in companies engaged primarily in the electricity generation, transmission and distribution business in Brazil. Baker River (Chile)
The Baker River is a river located in the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region of the Chilean Patagonia. It is Chile's largest river in terms of volume of water. The river flows out of Bertrand Lake, which is fed by General Carrera Lake. It runs along the east side of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field and empties into the Pacific Ocean, near the town of Caleta Tortel. The river forms a delta, dividing into two major arms, of which only the northernmost one is navigable. Its characteristic turquoise-blue color is due to the glacial sediments deposited in it. It was the proposed site of a controversial major hydro-electric project, involving five dams, to be the biggest in the history of Chile. Colbún (Mapudungun: "Cleaning of the land") is a Chilean town and commune in Linares Province, Maule Region. The commune has a population of over 17,000 inhabitants and covers an area of , making it the province's largest. Its capital, the town of Colbún, has 3,679 inhabitants (2002 census). It is west of the center of continental Chile. Jorge Rosenblut Ratinoff (born 7 July 1952) is a Chilean engineer, academic, businessman, consultant and the former president of ENDESA; the Latin American branch of the Italian-based ENEL Group. Rosenblut is a vocal supporter of the Pacific Alliance and has written extensively on the subject. In 2013 Rosenblut wrote a guest post for the Financial Times online editions in which he expressed his conviction that the Pacific Alliance, of which Chile is a member, represents a "seismic shift in Latin American integration" by standing together"in what promises to be a historic breakthrough for the region". Pascua River
The Pascua River is a river located in the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region of Chile. In spite of being a short river, its drainage basin is the seventh-largest in the country due to the great size of the O'Higgins/San Martín Lake, its source. The Pascua River was discovered in 1898 by the German Hans Steffen, during the exploration of the area near Christmas time (''Pascua'' means Easter but is frequently used to describe Christmas in Chilean Spanish, thus explaining the origin of its name). The river has its source in the northern part of the north-west arm of the lake O'Higgins in the form of a small stream, in an area surrounded by steep-sided mountains that reach over 1,000 meters with glaciers spilling down to the lake or to the river.
