Enda Colleran
Enda Colleran (May 1942 – 8 April 2004) was an Irish Gaelic footballer and manager who played for the Mountbellew–Moylough club and at senior level for the Galway county team. Career A native of Moylough, Colleran's Gaelic football prowess was first noticed on the national stage in 1960 when he won an All-Ireland Minor Championship medal with Galway and a Hogan Cup medal with St Jarlath's College. Having made his Galway senior debut in 1961, he went on to play in four successive All-Ireland senior finals between 1963 and 1966, winning the latter three against Kerry (twice) and Meath. Colleran also picked up two Sigerson Cup medals with University College Galway and became only the fourth Connacht man to captain his province to Railway Cup success when they beat Ulster in the 1967 final. Mountbellew–Moylough GAA
Mountbellew–Moylough (Irish: ''An Creagán/Maugh Locha'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. The club was formerly known as Mountbellew before amalgamating with Moylough. Connacht GAA (Irish: Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Chonnacht) or formally the Connacht Provincial Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association is the governing body for Gaelic games that are played in the province of Connacht, Ireland. 1965 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1965 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 79th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 2 May 1965 and ended on 26 September 1965. Limerick rejoin the Munster football championship for the first time since 1952. The decider was a repeat of the 1964 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, between Galway and Kerry. There was no change in the outcome as Galway defeated Kerry again by 0-12 to 0-09. 1964 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1964 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 78th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 26 April 1964 and ended on 27 September 1964. Dublin entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Meath in the Leinster final. It was Galway's second consecutive final, having lost to Dublin in the previous year's decider. The Tribesmen won their 5th All-Ireland title, beating Kerry by 5 points in the final, 0-15 to 0-10. It was the start of the most successful era in Galway football, their "Three In A Row". The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. Connacht Senior Cup (rugby Union)
The Connacht Senior Cup is a knockout competition for Senior rugby union clubs in the Irish province of Connacht, under the auspices of The Connacht Branch IRFU. The Cup has been played for a total of 102 times, with twelve different cubs having won the trophy during that period. Until 1928 all finals were played at the grounds of the then Galway Grammar School. From 1929 until the present the final is traditionally held at the Galway Sportsground on College Road, Galway. The Galway Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Galway. The winners of the Galway Championship qualify to represent their county in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Connacht colleges senior football "A" championship, is the top level Gaelic football competition for secondary schools in Connacht. They compete for the Aonghus Murphy Memorial Cup. The winners advance to the Hogan Cup, the All-Ireland colleges senior "A" football championship. St Colman's College, Claremorris beat St Gerald's College, Castlebar 0-15 to 1-11 in an all-Mayo final in McHale Park on 15 March to win the 2019 championship. Salthill
Salthill () is a seaside area in the City of Galway in the west of Ireland. Lying within the townland of Lenaboy (''an Léana Buí''), it attracts many tourists all year round. There is a 2 km long promenade, locally known as ''the Prom'', overlooking Galway Bay with bars, restaurants and hotels. Tourism and events Salthill was, until 2007, home to one of the biggest non-fee paying air shows in Galway, the Salthill Air Show, which took place in June over Galway Bay. The show annually attracted over 100,000 people and generated over €1m in revenue. The 1970s saw the introduction of a number of casinos and more leisure centres. ''The Sunday Game'' is RTÉ's main Gaelic games television programme. It is shown on RTÉ2 every Sunday during the Football Championship and Hurling Championship seasons. Connacht Senior Football Championship
The Connacht Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition for the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. All of the counties of Connacht participate in the championship, as well as counties London and New York. The winning team receives the Nestor Cup. The Connacht Senior Football Championship is run on a knock-out basis in which once a team loses they are eliminated from the competition. A series of games are played during the summer months and the final is played in June or July. The winner progresses directly to the All-Ireland Super 8s, while losing teams progress to the All-Ireland Qualifiers (before 2001 the All-Ireland was a straight knock-out format meaning all losing teams were eliminated after a single defeat). Galway Corinthians Rugby Football Club is a rugby club in Galway, Ireland and the largest rugby union club in the province of Connaught. The club was founded in 1932 and plays in Division 2B of the Irish domestic club competition the All-Ireland League. The club's home ground is at Corinthian Park, Cloonacauneen, Co. Galway.
