Encore.org initiatives include The Purpose Prize, for individuals; The Encore Fellowships Network, for private-sector employees transitioning to encore careers; the Encore College Initiative, for higher education institutions preparing people for encore careers; and the Encore Network, a group of organizations supporting the movement. Encore.org (formerly known as Civic Ventures and later renamed CoGenerate.org) was founded in 1997 by social entrepreneur Marc Freedman. 	Ken Dychtwald Kenneth M. Dychtwald is an American entrepreneur, gerontologist, psychologist, and lecturer. He is a co-founder and chief executive officer of Age Wave, a California Bay Area-based consulting and research company focused on the implications of an aging population. Early life and education Dychtwald grew up in Newark, New Jersey, and graduated from Weequahic High School in 1967. Dychtwald studied at Lehigh University and received his Ph.D. in psychology from Union Graduate School. Career Dychtwald spent much of his career developing and honing the concept of the ''Age Wave'', a population and cultural shift caused by the converging global demographic forces of the Mid-20th century baby boom, increasing life expectancy, and the declining fertility rates of the later 20th and early 21st centuries.
