Enchanted Forest (Rhode Island)
The Enchanted Forest was a fairy tale-themed amusement park that opened in 1971 in Hope Valley, Hopkinton, Rhode Island. Throughout its lifetime, it was mainly oriented to younger children and families. The park contained rides such as a child-sized roller coaster, bumper cars, and a merry go round, as well as having a live petting zoo and a miniature golf course. It occupied about 20 acres. The Enchanted Forest was closed in 2005. due to low money flow. The rides were sold through an auction. Hope Valley, Rhode Island
Hope Valley is a village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Hopkinton in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. The population of the CDP was 1,612 at the 2010 census. Hope Valley is the largest village in Hopkinton and the town's principal commercial center. While the village of Hope Valley is located in Hopkinton, its zip code, 02832, extends into the neighboring town of Richmond. The central portion of the village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 as the Hope Valley Historic District. The historic district includes 134 contributing buildings and three other contributing structures. Hopkinton is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island. The population was 8,398 at the 2020 census. History Hopkinton is named after Stephen Hopkins, a signer of the Declaration of Independence who was governor of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations when the town was partitioned from Westerly and incorporated in 1757. Hopkinton once featured a number of industrial villages, such as Locustville, Moscow, Centerville, and Wood River Iron Works, each being named after the mill which they surrounded. Today only Hope Valley, Rockville, Ashaway, and Bradford are recognized with a post office. The town hall is located in the village of Hopkinton City, which was once a stagecoach hub. Rocky Point Amusement Park
Rocky Point Park was an amusement park on the Narragansett Bay shore of Warwick, Rhode Island. It operated from the late 1840s until it closed in 1995. In 1996, the park officially filed for bankruptcy. History Rocky Point Park was first conceived by Captain William Winslow in the 1840s. By 1847, he had purchased a part of the land and began to offer amusements and serve dinner. On Sunday, September 6, 1903, blue laws prevented the National League's Boston Beaneaters from playing the Philadelphia Phillies at their usual home park, South End Grounds in Boston. The game was moved to a field at Rocky Point, where the ocean apparently came right up to the edge of the outfield. (Boston won, 3-2.) In July 1936, the salt-water swimming pool at the park hosted tryouts for the 1936 Summer Olympics.
