Enazakura
Enazakura Tooru (born 29 July 1960 as Toru Hayakawa) is a former sumo wrestler from Sakashita, Gifu, Sakashita, Gifu Prefecture, Gifu, Japan. He made his professional debut in March 1977 and reached the Makuuchi, top division in November 1987. His highest rank was ''maegashira'' 1. Upon retirement from active competition in 1994 he became an toshiyori, elder in the Japan Sumo Association, leaving in July 1999. Career He was recruited by the former ''Makuuchi#Ōzeki, ozeki'' Daikirin and joined Oshiogawa stable in March 1977 at the age of 16. He began fighting under his own surname of Hayakawa, receiving the ''shikona'' of Enazakura (meaning ″the cherry blossoms of Ena″, a region in his native Gifu Prefecture) in 1980. He was not particularly large, at around 180 cm and 120 kg, so it took him nine years of toil in the lower professional sumo divisions, divisions before he became an elite ''sekitori'' ranked wrestler in March 1986. Oshiogawa Stable
was a Heya (sumo), stable of sumo wrestlers, one of the Nishonoseki group of stables. In its modern form it dates from March 1975 when it was founded by Daikirin Takayoshi, Daikirin, a former Nishonoseki stable (1911–2013), Nishonoseki stable wrestler. It produced eleven ''sekitori'' in total, such as Masurao Hiroo, Masurao, Enazakura, Daishi Nobuyuki, Daishi, Wakatoba Hiromi, Wakatoba and Wakakirin Shinichi, Wakakirin. In March 2005, with Oshiogawa approaching the mandatory retirement age and no obvious successor available, the stable was absorbed into the affiliated Oguruma stable. History Founded in 1975 by former ''Makuuchi#Ōzeki, ōzeki'' Daikirin Takayoshi, Daikirin after a succession dispute over Nishonoseki stable. The former head coach of Nishonoseki stable Saganohana Katsumi, Saganohana died in 1975.
