Enamul Huq
Enamul Huq (born 2 January 1938) served as the Inspector General of Police of Bangladesh Police, and a member of the Law Commission from 2004 to 2007. Education and career Huq obtained his bachelor's and maser's in history from the University of Rajshahi and LLB from the University of Dhaka. He earned his Ph.D. in public administration from the University of New Orleans. He joined Police Cadre in 1964 and trained at Police Academy Sardah and International Police Academy Washington D.C. Huq was appointed as the principal of Bangladesh Police Academy and served as the commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Bengal Presidency
The Bengal Presidency, officially the Presidency of Fort William and later Bengal Province, was a subdivision of the British Empire in India. At the height of its territorial jurisdiction, it covered large parts of what is now South Asia and Southeast Asia. Bengal proper covered the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal (present-day Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal). Calcutta, the city which grew around Fort William, was the capital of the Bengal Presidency. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is the unit of Bangladesh Police responsible for law enforcement in the metropolis of Dhaka, the national capital and most populous city in Bangladesh. The DMP is the largest police force unit in Bangladesh. At present the DMP commissioner is Md. Shafiqul Islam BPM (Bar). Bangladesh Police Academy
Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) is a 100-year-old police training institute. It is the Alma Mater of police training in Bangladesh. It is located 20 miles from Rajshahi City. Location Bangladesh Police Academy is located at Sardah under Charghat police station in Rajshahi district. The mighty & beautiful river- Padma flows beside it dividing the Bengal into the East and the West. Evolution The necessity for imparting formal training to policemen was first felt in Bengal in 1893 when an experimental course of instruction limited to a period of 12 months was tried at Mill Barrack in Dhaka. The experimentation however proved positive. In the meantime, the Indian Police Commission of 1902 also recommended establishment of a Provincial Training College.
