''En Magal'' () is a 1954 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. V. R. Acharya and M. K. R. Nambiar. The film stars Ranjan, M. N. Nambiar and S. Varalakshmi. Plot Raghu is a son of a zamindar. He likes to be independent from his father but he had to marry Vasantha, a mirasudar's daughter as per his father's wish. But he makes life a hell for Vasantha. He sets his eyes on Vasantha's friend Mallika. But Mallika is already in love with Balu and they both get married. However, Raghu is not deterred by their marriage and continue to overture Mallika. In the meantime Raghu also tries to seduce a dancer, Ranjana. She does not fall for him but tries to correct his ways. One day Raghu kidnaps Mallika. Her husband Balu and his friend goes to save her. In the ensuing fight a knife thrown by Mallika injures Raghu seriously. He is admitted to a hospital. On hearing that her husband is admitted to hospital, Vasantha goes there. Ranjan (actor)
Ranjan (born as Ramanarayana Venkataramana Sarma; 2 March 1918 – 12 September 1983) was an Indian actor, singer, journalist and writer. He debuted in the 1941 movie ''Ashok Kumar'', but gained fame in S. S. Vasan's 1948 magnum opus '' Chandralekha''. Early life Ranjan was born Ramanarayana Venkataramana Sarma in Mylapore, Madras in 1918. His family hailed from the town of Srirangam. Ranjan had his schooling in Madras and received an M. Lit degree from Madras University. While studying in college, he participated in a number of stage plays. Coincidentally, an employee of Gemini Studios, Veppattur Kittu was present at one of his plays. Impressed by Ranjan's performance, Kittu suggested his name to P. G. Raghavachari, who cast him in the M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar-starrer ''Ashok Kumar'', in which he played the role of Gautama Buddha. However, Ranjan did not have any dialogues in the film. Mynavathi (26 July 1935 – 10 November 2012) was an Indian actress. She made her first screen appearance as an actor in the 1955 Kannada film ''Santa Sakhu'' and acted in over 100 Kannada films. She was the younger sister of another popular Kannada actress Pandari Bai. She became popular after her role in the 1959 Kannada film ''Abba Aa Hudugi'', which co-starred Rajkumar and her sister Pandari Bai and was directed by H. L. N. Simha. In the film, she played the role of an autocratic girl who hates men. It was based on William Shakespeare's play ''The Taming of the Shrew''. Radha (born 1932) and Jayalakshmi (1932 - 2014), popularly known as Radha Jayalakshmi ( ta, ராதா ஜெயலட்சுமி), were an Indian Carnatic music vocalist duo as well as playback singers in films in the 1940s and 1950s. They later became teachers and trained notable Carnatic music singers. Jayalakshmi was the playback singer of the duo, but was credited as Radha Jayalakshmi in the cine field.
