Emília Letroublon
Emília Letroublon (c. 18291895) was an actress of French birth who made her career in Portugal in the 19th century. Early life Emília Genoveva Letroublon was born in Ribérac in the Dordogne department of France around 1829. Her mother moved to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon and ran an inn at Cais do Sodré on the banks of the Tagus river. Letroublon debuted as an actor in the early days of operation of the ''Teatro do Ginásio'', in 1848. She was so successful that her salary was increased by 400% in the second month of her contract, and the public's appreciation continued for her future roles. After the modernization of the ''Ginásio'' in 1852, she again became part of its company, together with Emília Cândida. In one play she smoked on the stage. Ribérac
Ribérac (; oc, Rabairac) is a commune in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. The commune is situated by the Dronne River. History In response to the 848 Norman plunder of nearby Brantôme, a fort was built near a ford of the Dronne. Around the year 1000, the castle of Ribérac was built on a hill where the current cemetery is. Houses are set up at the foot of the walls, descending towards the valley. After the Wars of Religion, in the late 1500s, the castle was abanonded and was in ruins by the time of the French Revolution. In 1790, Ribérac became the prefecture of the District of Ribérac (french: District de Ribérac). ''La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein'' (''The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein'') is an opéra bouffe (a form of operetta), in three acts and four tableaux by Jacques Offenbach to an original French libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy. The story is a satirical critique of unthinking militarism and concerns a spoiled and tyrannical young Grand Duchess who learns that she cannot always get her way. The opera premiered in Paris in 1867 and starred Hortense Schneider in the title role. Thereafter, it was heard in New York, London and elsewhere, and it is still performed and recorded. Beatriz Rente (18581907) was a Portuguese theatre actor. Early life Beatriz Emília Rente was born in the parish of Sé in Portalegre in Portugal on 22 January 1858, daughter of Joaquim Manuel Paes Rente and Joaquina Rita Duarte. Her father, who was a tailor and a member of an amateur dramatics group, died when she was only two and a half years old. She had four siblings. By 1861, she was living in a home for underprivileged children, where her maternal aunt worked. Teatro Da Rua Dos Condes
The ''Teatro da Rua dos Condes'', or simply ''Condes'', was a theatre in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. It was opened in 1738 and rebuilt in 1755 after an earthquake. Never considered comfortable, it was demolished and rebuilt in 1888 and eventually converted to a cinema. After a further demolition and reconstruction as a purpose-built cinema, the building now houses a Hard Rock Café. For part of its life the ''Teatro da Rua dos Condes'' was one of Lisbon's major theatres, attracting the city's elite, including the royal family.
